0-60 Times for VXR8
Discussion
They seem to be selling plenty of VXR8s without publishing the data.
IMO it won't make much difference to 0-60; you've still got to put the extra power down. I'd have said someone that concerned about 0-60 figs would look elsewhere.
It's a good power hike and not huge money. I think Vauxhall/TWR have decided not to bother measuring. In time TG and the motoring mags are sure to give it a go.

Id ignore the 0 - 60 times as this involves seriously abusing yr own car. Mines reportedly got 635bhp but I doubt I could get it below 5 sec's as It will just spin the wheels in the first two gears if your at all agressive and I wont abuse it that much. Ask and compare the in gear acceleration as the S/C car is stunning. Not driven a standard one so cant compare but I do know mine seems to lose all perception of weight and size if you floor it in 3rd or 4th, it just launches itself forward... much to the shock of many other drivers (and bikers) LOL!

When i am about to spend upwards of £7000 i want to know as much as possible!
I would be very surprised if it makes no difference to the 0-60. By the way that isnt the only figures i was interested in, i suppose as much info as possible is nice.

1 thing 0-60 is the biggest con since the start of timeI would be very surprised if it makes no difference to the 0-60. By the way that isnt the only figures i was interested in, i suppose as much info as possible is nice.

4.9 i hardly believe you will ever reach in an NA and the SC will have even greater traction issues so stop worrying about it. You dotn spend 7k to shave 0.2 off your 0-60 you get it for the cudos in the pub, you get it for the vastly improved mid range and in gear acceleration.

Don't spend 7k then, speak to Mark at RapidGB, he's doing some cracking deals at the moment. www.rapid-gb.co.uk/

there's a Vauxhall 1/4 mile event on at Crail at the end of this month being covered by Total Vauxhall magazine. Think there's a few of us from up here intending going along. I'm sure bigwheel for one will want another try to see if his 3.9 diff has made much of a difference to his time. Think I'll give it a go as well if the weathers okay.

I think the 1/4 is a pretty much tried tested and accepted measure for ALL vehicles.
Nah, it's just a convenient length for drag strips, like 0-60mph/0-100kph is a convenient magazine/advert measure having a top speed less than the legal limit.Personally, I think 0-100mph is a good measure, since it's easy to visualise, doesn't penalise traction issues too heavily, and is relatively relevant for the real world. <12s=fast sports car, <9s=supercar, <6s=Veyron

The problem with 0-*anything* and 1/4 mile times is that it's completely dependant on either the skill or lack of mechanical sympathy of the driver.
I've been with Lotus test drivers demonstrating the techniques for the best start launches and there's no way anybody would want to do that with their own car.
eg - foot flat on the accelerator, wheelspin controlled with clutch control, gearshifts executed without lifting the throttle etc...
Rolling starts are more accurate like for like comparison as the only influence the driver can have is on the gearchanges.

The only real test for a Monaro is over at least a mile.
?? I think the 1/4 is a pretty much tried tested and accepted measure for ALL vehicles. What benefit, other than trying to reach terminal speed would a mile run achieve ? The car just isn`t good at starting, just finishing.
