Sorry if this is in the wrong section.
I'm about to start racing in RGB, and I was wondering where's the best place to get kit. I've got the demon tweeks catalogue, which seems good. Where else do people recommend? I'd rather be able to go and try stuff on. and I'm on a tight budget!

I think it's worth going to Grand Prix racewear - you can go to the shop and try everything on and get some advice
There's a store in W London (just off the N. Circ) and one at Silverstone circuit

My Dad got his kit from AWS in Ashford. Got a deal as it was ex-display stock iirc and could try it all on there: http://www.advanced-wear.co.uk/

Can you wait until the Autosport show in January? Good deals to be had there, especially if you play the stands off against one another.

Unless you enjoy paying full RRP, forget Demon Tweeks.

Go somewhere you can try stuff on. Grand Prix Racewear are good, but again they are RRP - can be haggled though if you are in the trade, but you didn't hear that from me.

Another vote for AWS. I went to their place and was able to try everything on, and got the whole lot from them, boots, suit, helmet and all the other bits. Good price too.

Certainly try everything on first, and make sure you spend as much as you can on a helmet. I buy all my stuff from Grand Prix Racewear - they know what they're talking about and the prices are reasonable. Regarding the helmet, trying this on is a must. Everyone's head is shaped differently, and you might find that Bell helmets fit well, whereas Arai don't, or the other way round. You might like to consider some sort of neck restraint as well. Some of my friends have had accidents without them and have suffered awful whiplash for weeks afterwards. I used to have a collar type of restraint, which I found uncomfortable, but it did the job. I now use a HANS device, which is expensive, but superb.

I'd second using a neck brace, the only time last season i dint wear mine i ended up in the garvel at padock after i found a someone parked sideways on just after the blind turn. i had whiplash for ages after that.

Thanks everyone, I think I'll wait until the autosport show. I've got my bike helmet for trackdays until then. I don't start racing until next year. (750mc RGB championship -come and say hello!)

There's a lot to be said for trying things on in the peace and quiet of a shop with an assistant that's got time for you though.

If you are a member of 750mc (which presumably you are, or will be, as you are going to do RGB) then you will probably get a 10% discount at Demon Tweeks.

Bith DT and GP Racewear also usually offer additional show discounts at the Autosport Show.

When me and a mate bought our Peltor rally intercom lids, we used the Demon Tweeks stand at the Autosport for trying them on for the right size, then hunted round the show for the best price .... Not our fault that Demon Tweeks couldn't price match. Ordered from Peter Lloyd in the end, and they arrived a couple of days later at roughly 25% off of RRP.
