I'm considering importing a Speed 6 TVR - probably Tamora or T350 - to New Zealand where there is no shortage of quality mechanical expertise, but zero experience of Speed 6 engines. If/when some major rebuild is required is it reasonable to expect that a mechanic experienced in working with other high performance engines could make a decent job of it? Engine manuals, specs etc would obviously be useful - is this sort of detail publicly available or tightly held by the dealers and tuners?

This isn't a question about S6 reliability - I'm very familiar with all sides of that debate. Also before anyone says it, I'm familiar with New Zealand's frontal impact import restrictions.

Dont get sucked into the myth that the speed six is different to what Otto invented, like the speed six owners over here. Its just an normal potato cannon that any mechanic with racing knowledge would revel getting his hands on..

There's a Pistonheader with a T350 in Western Australia (OK, so thats a long way from you, but relatively close compared to the UK). He seems to get by just fine.

Most engine parts seem to be available now, its just a case of finding a good mechanic and waiting for DHL.
