Had the TVR nearly a year now, loved every minute of it.
The insurance is due for renewal, last year I was told it was loaded because I had no experience of a performance car.
I'm currently insured with A plan and got a really good deal, but the premium has gone up quite a bit.
Just been phoning around and tried A Manning, Heritage and Sunninghill.

Both the wife and I drive it but have other cars insured in our names, its garaged and we have a limited miles policy.

Anyone suggest any where to else to try? Other wise I think A plan are looking good again.

Many thanks in advance as I know you'll all help.

Thanks

I tried Mannings and A plan but through the AA ended up being cheaper, maybe worth a try. Also if you get AA membership first you get a discount. By the way I pay £1100. Im 25 in a month and I have recently completed advanced drivers test. I dont have another car, which makes it difficult. Anyone in a similar sutuation got a good deal?

For a garaged 2nd car with Ltd miles then I don't think you'll beat Hagerty.
Shame I do about 10k a year in the Chim else I'd be with them (Hagerty have a 5k limit IIRC)

Many thanks

Just called Hagerty and can't believe how cheap they are compared with the rest.

If you do less than 5K miles, have other cars insured in your name I don't think you will find cheaper.

I was getting quotes from £450 from A plan, £486 A Manning and lots more up to £800.

Hagerty have come in at £266 for 5k miles.

Anyone used Hagerty? are they OK? The guy on the phone sounded like a real car enthusiast and asked all the right questions.

I use Hagerty and have met the team numerous times at various shows. Their policies are written by the Allianz and so no problems there. They are real enthusiasts and really do know their stuff. Darren is an ex TVR owner. I think you will find plenty of satisfied people on here.

Adrian Flux & Chris Knott might be worth a try?

I believe Adrian Flux do up to 25% discount if you have taken the Ride Drive day course and obtained a certificate from Ride Drive to confirm it has been completed and you are not a complete numpty. Just waiting for mine! biggrin

Currently insured with A Plan at £549 per annum - no limit.

Darren at Hagerty is the way to gothumbup..I went with them last year at £292. Car is Garaged, 4k limited mileage and Guaranteed value of 9k.I have recommended them to other friends that have performance 2nd cars and they have all been very pleased with not just the price but the service as well

Renewal just came through and has gone down to £215.bounce

I just recently found out that if your on a UK track day they will insure you for 10% of you premium per day...That is awesome..I have heard it is normally around £20 per £1k of the cars value...

Seconded ! Even though I dont have a garage and have quite a few of the more normal mods on the car they were still cheap, and about £200 less than anyone else. And I called EVERY insurance co advertised in sprint and a few others as well. It was really good to talk with someone who understands the cars and is a real enthusiast.

Good grief - just called Hagerty for a quote and had to check several times that the quote was correct (after picking myself up off the floor) - it was well under half my renewal quote with Direct Line...and with a lower excess.

Yes, it is and that's probably why it's so much cheaper - they'll also let me maintain (but not increase) my NCB currently on the Chim.

But remember that most of the "specialist" insurers only do SD&P and NOT commuting, even on limited mileage. If you want to use it on the work run you will be paying more.
