Fat man into an MK or similar?
Discussion
Having had a few fast everyday cars I want to go down the route of a fun car a boring one for work etc.
I had a few 205's as a youngun so going for an Mi16 engined 205 seemed the obvious choice for something I can bang around on track without too much worry about the amount of cash I may end up throwing into barriers etc.
BUT... I would love to go for something like a BE'd MK/Locost instead.
My question is, how are they for space inside? Im 6'1 and about 16-17st. I've sat as a passenger in a Caterham and that was snug to say the least, but even with a removable steering wheel Im not sure I could fit in it to drive it.
Would I stand a chance in an MK/Locost type car? Any fellow fatties got advice to offer (going down the gym for 6 months isnt an option!) A CSR variant would be the solution I guess but I dont have 25-30k to spend!

I am a similar size and have an MK Indy. Fits like a glove. Come and try it for size if you live anywhere near me (Cheshire). Or there's a kit car show on this weekend at Donnington and you can try as many as you like there.
Incidently, I had a 205 Mi16 prior to the Indy. There's no real comparison, the kit car is much more fun.

Thanks for the reply... sounds like Im in with a chance at least!
Unfortunately Im down in Berkshire so cannot take you up on your offer, nor can I make the show this weekend as I and Mrs R are off to Dorset for a week this Friday.
Ill have to try and find someone closer to me who is prepared to let me try it.

The easiest way will be to head to www.locostbuilders.co.uk and ask in the BEC forum.Im almost wishing I hadnt started looking into this now... I want one now!!!
The MNR looks just the ticket and from the site they quote around £8k to get one on the road.
Ill try the forum as suggested, thanks for that. Now to start convincing Mrs R that its a good thing and that the garage will look good with a "bright orange noddy car" as she described it!!

I am 6ft & about the same weight as you, and I fit in my Tiger Supercat perfectly. Leg room is no issue, infact anyone less than 6ft finds the pedals too far away, side to side is "snug" - but believe me, when you are having some fun in these, it is much better that that you can not move much !. All seven clones are not exactly roomy, but some offer allot more space than others - Tiger also do a Supercat XL, which is as per the standard model, but is wider in the cockpit - could be worth a look.
In all Sevens things such as pedal position, steering wheel size & position, seat type's can change from car to car & can be adapted to suit - these combinations can always gain a few extra inches if needed - and we all know a few extra inches always helps!!.
Cheers
Richard.
