I posted this on a thread in gg but since having had time to read it all (nearly) I thought it worth posting here. It's a department of transport study in to the cause of motorcycle crashes done by some university or other (*). It's pretty easy to read, quite objective and not judgemental imo. It's worth reading as they come to some conclusion on the most effective way of reducing your chances of having an accident. Surprisingly further training is not one of them. Enjoy...

PS. It's also a study you can throw at preaching car drivers who claim it's all our own fault.

(* - oops, the one I went to... go team redface )

Interesting report.

Can anyone here relate to this statement taken from the conclusions?

It said:
The questionnaire revealed that older and more experienced riders tended to be quite aware of the risks of motorcycling and, with the possible exception of speeding, exhibited attitudes consistent with riding safely.

its been said to lots of things as well, ww2 pilots for a start.
anyone who takes risks for years & learns from it gets better at judging risks in those situations. obvious really isnt it? its how we learn.

Yes I realise that, it's something that someone used to say to me quite a bit when I was younger.
