Back in May 2007 there was much coverage in the national press revealing that some 90,000 police officers caught speeding were 'let off' by their supervising officers or officers above them.

Astonishingly only one in 200 officers caught jumping red lights or speeding was fined or given points, compared with 84 per cent of ordinary drivers

And only 354 of 90,000 police caught on camera speeding or jumping red lights last year were punished.

With modern day computer technology I wonder how this is possible, especially as it is supposed to be down to the courts to decide on the sentencing and not the police officer and his or her mate wink, surely our police force isn't corrupt and deleting these speeding and red light camera offences because these officers are their friends, after all, the law is the law!!! - Am laughing over this one now!

Perhaps speeding and red light jumping data should be fed to three or four independent companies, or perhaps displayed realtime for all to see? I feel this is the only way that all offences are recorded accurately without any police officer 'enforced' errors.

I'm sure you'd be happy to know an officer wasn't speeding or didn't jump a red light, on his/her way to an emergency in which your life was at risk.

Mr Motor I am sorry to tell you there is no Santa Claus or Fairies at the bottom of the garden that certain press reports would have you believe.

And no such matters, unlike private concerns, are 'cuffed' at a whim. Each reported case is looked at and checked against certain criteria of exemption for emergency service vehicles and logs etc.

Do you play hell if a Fire Engine shoots a light on the way to a fire or Ambulance to a heart attack?

Why the fascination with fast Plods who are basically only trying to do the job you pay them to do.?

dvd

......and don't come in the brigade that they saw a Plodmobile doing 70 in a 40 to get a burgher........

It's not an offence for a Police officer to go faster than the limit for a Police purpose. It's NOT speeding.
90,000 cases where there isn't evidence of an offence...........so what ?

So when someone posts something which is clearly wrong you'd rather he didn't put the facts across?.

Why is that?

As long as its relevant to whats being discussed yes.

When its just someone who's been duelling with Von in another thread, who appears to be needling him then no.
