BMW X5 and 3 kids?

Hello,

Is there enough room in the back of the X5 for two baby seats and an 8 year old? Realy struggling to come up with a family car that will do the job.

Not really a true 7 seater - very small back row seats in the new x5 so although you would get the two car seats in row 2 you'd struggle to get the 8 yr old in the back - he/she would not like it for a long trip

Another option is the Discovery?

Have you looked at the X3?

We have one and drove through France with 3 children in the back with fewer moans than expected. We don't need car seats any more, but having travelled in the back I was impressed with the room. I seem to recall reading on here the X3 has more interior room than the previous X5. Otherwise you need something like a Galaxy

Hmm interesting someone told me X3's have no more room than a 3 series! Same chassis, similar seats etc??

Thanks for your replies.Need to fit two child seats and have room for an 8 year old.Might look at a Disco.

Not entirely sure as I've only had my X5 for a few days now, but I would think 3 in the back would be quite comfortable.

Quick way to find out is to nip down to your local BMW dealer & ask to borrow one for a day (that what I did).

I wonder if they would let me have an M5 for the day?

The X3 is based very loosely on the E46, lots of adjustments were made as it's bigger & all the dimensions change. However it is taller so feels as though there's more space.

That's the conundrum - they are but feel massive in comparison. Having had 2 Tourings to compare it with it's quite staggering the difference.

I have a 7, 4 and 2 year old, so two car seats required. Whilst they will fit in an X5 it would be a bit of a squeeze. If yours are anything like mine they will then fight tooth and nail everytime you go anywhere.

Much as I have loved our X5's the only thing for us to do was get a Disco3. Proper 7 seater!! On our second one now and very happy. Drives surprisingly well and if you get an ecu upgrade it really can hustle along. We have just been to Cornwall and back, 5 hours, 3 kids, boot full of kit and a whole load of bikes hanging off the back, utterly brilliant.

If you can, try one of the Limited Edition HSE's with the DVD entertainment...worth it's weight in gold!
