I asked through a thread last week about jacking a Cerb from the front and some said it could not be done. Well on advice from a club member and some inspections under the car I found it can indeed be done quite safely.

As follows...

First step is to raise the front of the car slightly for easier jack access. I made up two short wodden ramps sat on paving blocks and just pushed the car up onto these and chocked the back wheels.

The Jack point is centrally on the main cross brace below the steering rack. You do put pressure on the alloy guard so using a piece of wood here wood prevent any minor distortion. But mine was already slightly distorted and it only moves a bit anyway, so did not bother...

Jack the car up from here...

and position your axle stands on the two outrigger tubes as per hand book. Either inside or outside depending on what access you require...

Putting down is of course just a reversal of the above. Just make sure to put the pieces of wood back under the tyres or your Jack will get stuck.

But if you have mates that own garages, much easier on one of these...

Job's a good un!

Cheers
Dave...

I've always jacked up the front of mine from the side, by positioning the trolley jack just behind the front wheel, so when the jack is pushed under, the lifting pad envelops the rear most bolt on the sump guard plate.

The weight distribution is enough that you can get both axle stands underneath in one hit and the load is being taken up by the central part of the chassis.

I never use the outriggers as per the book as i believe there's more movement/stress created when raising the car by the extremeties of a corroding tubular space frame!
