Magna Charger - Who's got 1 and what's the results?
Discussion
After a saga of events lasting months that I won't bore you all with, my Vortech powered beasty is going back and being replaced with a Magna Charged one...(Mark at Rapid's doing the work who I do have great confidence in)
Who's got one fitted and what's the results (power, driveability, reliability, noise) and how does it compare to the Harrop unit? It's going onto an LS2 if that makes a difference. All comments greatfully received.
Cheers, Mike.

Originally bought standard '05 6.0 VXR and loved it, put felt it could handle so much more power due to its great chassis (IMHO of course). Saw a 56 plate one with headers, zorst, AP's and Vortech supercharger advertised at a VX dealers and that was that. Did the research, spoke to Mark about the car and all seemed good - bought it without even seeing it.
2 days after collecting it, it decided to go to "Reduced Power" mode and this continued for a while. Mark at Rapid has had the car more than me and we're all flumaxed as to what'[s the problem. Most things have been checked and/or replaced but the same problem persists. So...the aforementioned VX dealer has now accepted defeat and I've an 07 plate one on it's way to me shortly. The brakes, headers and zorst will be transferred across and then Mark's gonna fit the Magna Charger when he can get hold of one.
I have to say that Mark has done all he can to help me out and the dealer (bless 'em) have always kept me mobile with hire cars etc but it's certainly taken the shine of my otherwise v enjoyable time in Monaros. So I'll have had 3 of the beasties in 13 months.
Told you it was boring.....yawn!

Big Col. Big smiles... Awesome noise, as those of you will have heard if you caught the video, of the magnacharger my son briefly posted on u-tube. My bottle went and I took it down!
Magnacharger, 504 bhp, with 540 lb/ft of torque. At full chat you cannot hear the engine for the noise of the supercharger. I like it alot. Some might not! I rekon though if you are the sort of fellow that enjoys the Monaro, and have petrol in your veins you`ll love the sound. Subtle, it is not!!
Mark has fitted the 9 psi pully, and when measured on the dyno it was trying to pass 12psi! One tweak later and it was calmed down.
Big tip following. Heavy duty clutch and ap brakes are absolutley a must. That big shiney lump gets you up to triple digit leptons in startlingly quick order, and you gotta be able to stop.
My son wants to do another video that will not put me in jail. When he does, I`ll post it here.

Col, Sounds like it's safe to say you're quite pleased which is great news. My car will have AP's, different headers and a milltek system so should fly....and stop!!! - Has your clutch given up the ghost then or just a bit wholly? - I intend to drive it as the devil intended with the odd track day thrown in for good measure! Any replacement clutch suggestions?
Wormus - Good man - Make sure you post on here once it's fitted!
Mike.

I have a harrop clutch fitted.
Even if you don't think you get clutch slip after the power increase you do, normally under heavy power and wheelspin so you don't notice.
When I had mine done it was very noticeable when you put the power down.
Not so good is that it makes the clutch heavy and becomes a pain in heavy traffic (as in stop starts in a jam).

Corvette club sold some of us a LS7 clutch and flywheel for 100 quid!! bargain of the century. Still not had mine fitted yet as I don't desperately need it. Might try pop in and get it done when I'm down for Thruxton as I'm taking a few days extra as a holiday. Think they said at the time it was normally around 500-600 quid for the pair.

.I think Colin is very happy with his and it's a lot cheaper than the Harrop while giving similar performance.
