It's open pit lane all day with 20 cars on track at a time and costs £115..

Think the title should read "WOODBRIDGE" not as above!

I'm thinking about taking my knackered old Elise here. Guess I need to decide by 5ish this afternoon smile

Has anyone done one of these days at Woodbridge? How long does it take to drive from central London?

I've only done a couple of track days before. Is this a suitable venue for a n00b?

Your best bet would be to give them a phone.. Ther's a land line and a mobile number on their sitesmile

I'd have thought with it being an airfield there would probably be a lack of things to crash into with lots of run off. I've never been tho..

I'm coming from south east london and routfinder reckons about 2 hours/90 miles..
Might be a good bit quicker from central london as it's a right pain getting south to northfrown

I called, but they are fully booked (despite the website still allowing bookings...).

So I've booked Keevil on Monday instead smile

I'm going tomorrow & I've done Woodbridge before. Good fun track, great for beginners, track etiquette is pretty good & Javelin are a fun bunch of people. There's little to hit except cones & I've been known to re-arrange the course several times.
Surface can be a bit abrasive as there's lots of different grip levels but that shouldn't be a problem - it's all good experience isn't it.

Noise limit is 102db which isn't rigidly enforced & it's open pitlane all day so you can either go on when it's a bit quieter or throw yourself in with the masses if you're feeling brave.

Another good track day is RAF Marham - held twice a year, near to Snetterton/Kings Lynn at £60 per day or £100 for the weekend. Pistonheads has an allocation of 30-40 spaces per day & they go reasonably quickly once they become available - check East Anglia forum in January for the next April weekend.

Hope this helps & enjoy your day at Keevil.

I had a good day yesterday too but was sad that no-one came up & said hello frowntumbleweed

On a sour note, I thought the track etiquette was pretty shocking yesterday (not you though Mr Porsche!hehe) and I wondered also whether they had overbooked it. Letting people out on the track caused long tailbacks as they appeared to be letting only one car out when TWO cars came in.
I'm sure that they have to keep to a maximum track number for insurance but the track was longer than before & they shouldn't advertise it as open pitlane when it really wasn't.
I had the least tracktime I've ever had as I kept watching the queue to see it progressing extremely slowly & when I did go out, particularly in the afternoon, I stayed out as long as I could but felt guilty doing so as the next person in the queue would have to wait longer - bit unfair really but what were we supposed to do?

The course was pretty excellent, putting a bit of a chicane down the runway was good fun & livened things up a bit! I let everyone that was too close past as I was there for tail-out action not fastest lap but some cars displayed some extremely badmannered & dangerous moves, particularly, overtaking in the corners - or attempting to. I hope that they were pulled up by the marshals. I'm not a big fan of having a car breathing on me mid-corner, as my Cobra is very tail-happy & the slightest lift-off mid corner will provoke oversteer & I don't like being distracted! hehe

I'm probably sounding like a bit of a grouch here but it was getting worse throughout the day - possibly as a result of the pitlane queue? People finally getting out there & driving like mad things? Who knows.

Overall, another good day at Woodbridge but should be cheaper or sessioned if there's going to be 60+ cars.

I had a great day too but agree with the above points..

Magpie - sorry i didn't say hello but saw and heard your car.. mmmmmmmm!!

Angry - Was yours the red Porsche?? I was trying to keep up with one at one point but gave up in the end lol..

The circuit was extremly bad for tyre wear and stones etc but i suppose it's what you get with airfield days.. I did a Javelin trackday last year at Oakington and that made Woodbridge seem perfect but still enjoyed it and didn't think twice about coming to this one.

I was amazed at just how quickly i managed to kill my back left tyre! With all that open space i couldn't stop myself from doing the odd drift but was shocked to find absolutely no tread left by mid-afternoon. I should have gone back out on the space saver!! The huge hairpin corner at the end of the staight is i think what did it lol!
I got a couple of black flags for being too 'arsey' when cars were behind but staff were very friendly and suggested i keep 'straight' if there was traffic. Was great to be allowed to have some fun with the carsmile

Yes mine was the Red Porsche,it is set up well, but i was suprised how competative it was, even in that little alleyway bit near the hangers.
People think they are really quick, but it wieghs about 1350kgs and is only about 240bhp at the wheels.
I go to the Ring regularly but dont get chance to really rag it,because you cannot afford to at the Ring, but Saturday i was able to really let loose for the 1st time and throw the car about,i still have a smile on my face now.
The Ring is really aggresive with people blocking you and bad overtakes,so saturday seemed really well behaved to me.
I did get a black flag and also got told at the end of the day that generally my etiquette was bad,it was not intentional,i thought that when i saw people swerve to the right coming up to a left hander that they were letting me past, but as i got alongside many times, people didnt seem to back off forcing me to go into the bend together on the inside,so i apologise.
Next time i will calm it a bit.
My new £400 rear tyres do look pretty shagged now though,so if i do more airfield days i will have to loook at some cheaper alternatives than my Pirelli corsas.
On the whole a fantastic day....speak soon.
