Since overheating a while back my temp guage has been playing up so I reckon I've cooked the sender. Looking for a new one on on clever trevor there are two different ones listed as:

COOLANT TEMPRATURE SENDER FOR ECU PART NO E0376
Coolant temperature sender for ECU Rover engined cars Griffith Chimaera V8 S

COOLANT TEMPRATURE GAUGE SENDER TVR PART NO N0125
Coolant temperature gauge sender fits Griffith Chimaera using Caerbont gauges stainless bezel

How do I know which one applies to my 97 450 ? what is a caerbont gauge ? It probably says in the bible but I dont have one to hand to check

cheers

Use the spare sender with an adjustable resistor(200 ohm) to calibrate, its on top of the head next to the ECU sender. Saves all that flapping around, draining etc.

Good idea David, Maplins have a 220 with +/- 20% tolerance/adjustment so I think a quick trip down there tomorrow is on the cards.

I'd be surprised if there was one sender that was right for all gauges. The one for the ECU is definitely not it, anyway.

As a 1997 car it'll have the Caerbont gauges (it's the name of the gauge manufacturer).

can you get a replacement spare sender that's been calibrated to the caerbont gauges? I've got the mod and am comfortable that it's reasonably accurate "at temperature" but calibrated either side would be nice too....
