Real hardcore sports car fan then?

Audi haven't raced in any LMS race - ever.

Some satelite teams did before when it was the LMES but not lately and only with cars provided by Audi.

America is their market. That's where they race except the actual 24h.

went to britcar last year and so thought something different this time round. Having had two childish answers to a basic questions from someone new to It all I guess this is not the place to learn things about endurance racing.

Actually most people on here are polite & helpful. You just need to develop a home-made tosspot filter and you'll enjoy PH a lot more wink

With regard to your question about the lack of Audi participation at Silverstone, i thought the same thing initially, as even though i'm trackside most weekends i know sweet FA about the Le Mans Series. smile

Apart from the fact that the LMS is the same series as the LMES, just a title change by the ACO. Oh, and the fcat that all of the entries by teams with an R8 have been factory entries, Veloqx was run under the Audi UK banner and the Spa 1000K entry in 2003 was run under the Audi Belgium flag, by the Goh team, who were an official works partner.

My guess is you're not much of a hardcore sportscar fan yourself... rolleyes

Can't say I really miss the Audi's. Got to sort out the derv rules and put petrol guzzlers back in their fightful place, although the Peugeots do look fantastic.

The Johansson Motorsports Gulf backed R8 in 2001 was run by Arena with minimal assistance from Audi.

Apart from the Joest people helping to assist running the car. There hasn't been an Audi raced yet that hasn't had some factory input at some level. wink

From what I heard Audi won't let you run a car like that without supplying engineers and taking certain bits home with them after each race. I wouldn't call that a factory entry, which is what you originally said, more forceably assisted! wink

Yep, Audi don't let you run a car without maintaining a watchful eye on what you are doing...
