They haven't yet, car are wildly speculating as to the spec and looks of the new small McLaren (as magazines tend to do).

I'd rather wait until a car actually exists before they do a comparison test...

You and me both my friend, i bought the mag a few days ago. There are some great shots/pictures of the new car. It looks tasty and they are saying that a price tag of around 150K!!! It its all true then Ferrari and Lamborhini will have problems.
They say that they also tested the new Mclarens running gear in a 360 Modena!!!!

You know i can remember a few years back when certain magazines showed pictures of the soon to be F430, and a lot of people said the same as your self. Then....they bought out the very same car as was in the magazine.
Also the same magazines did a feature on a so called Dino. And again people were skeptical about Ferrari doing such a thing. Well we all know what going on right now in Maranello as we speak. Hey ya never know....i hope Mclaren do bring it out personaly.

They're not real shots though, they're just a mock up of what the car could look like based on some guesswork by car.

Not exactly unusual to use a competitor benchmark as an early mule. IIRC McLaren chopped up a Cerbera for early SLR development.

The mag has been out for some time now, the Mc article is interesting but based on (apparently informed) pure conjecture. The Scuderia looks hot, & I mean properly HOT. Big WANT ONE factor for me......

The computer generated McLaren pics make the new car look a little dull TBH. Hopefully the drive will be groundbreaking.

They also used the Ultima to test the mclaren F1. Cant see Ferrari using anything any of its rivals have for a test bed.
Also thats why i said "shots/pictures" wink
Has anyone noticed that all these super cars are looking very much the same these days. The Audi R8, Gallardo, and now the so called new Mclaren looks very much like the 360 and R8.

Ferrari wouldn't need to use anyone else's car, they have plenty of cars to chop up in the factory already. The 430 is merely a development of the 360 after all.

McLaren did indeed use an Ultima kit, but they regretted it because they had to build the thing first iirc.

What is going on? Is the new "Dino" confirmed? Do you know something I don't?

Of course ferrari never confirm any new model until every thing is in place, just like they did with the F430 and 430 Scud. They are currently testing a new car using mules and its been well documented on the main ferrari forums that development is under way on some new project. As well as spy shots of mules in most the main stream magazines like this one http://www.evo.co.uk/news/evospyshots/209995/ferra...
So like i said there was doubters about the development of the F430, and doubted the pictures in the rags. And the F430 came out as speculated and more or less as pictures shown. There were even doubters about the pictures of the new 430 Scudiera only last year. And now its here more or less as speculated by the rags including quite acurate pictures. All i am saying is that IMO history shows that when there is leaks, spy shots and denials from the factory......It will be here soon.

So are Ferrari dealers taking deposits? At around £80K (if the 110,000 Euros is correct) even I may be interested in popping my Ferrari cherry in the next few years smile

I have no idea mate i am just following the circus, the name "Dino" has not even been confirmedsmile Heres a video from Youtube of the car in the pictures. From the looks of it the car is clearly a 599 with a short wheel base and it certainly doesn't have the throaty 599 engine in it.Smaller engine maybe? I hope it is a Dino personally, but i dont think that the price will be sub 100k some how. But hey lets see. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=puHezSVc1g0
