I'm asking this as basicly im just curious where i stand if plod should choose to speak to me.
I brought a bike back in April & used the V5 to tax it, post office stamped the new keeper bit & sent the rest off as they do. well the DVLA say they never recieved it & the bike isnt in my name. I've now sent a form for a duplicate V5 along with the new keeper section as I have to to avoid the charge. Now if the DVLA manage to loose this as well (which wouldnt really surprise me) how would i then ever get the bike in my name?
also if im stopped & asked why its not in my name will plod accept this & is my insurance valid as i obviously told them im the registered keeper.
lucky i taxed it for 12months really or i'd be getting rather hacked off with being unable to tax it soon.

Totally. Took us 4 attempts to get our van registered, they lost the form the first time, acknowledged reciept of the for the next 2 times but then it got "lost in the system", and the forth time they said it must have been lost in the post...

Oh well done now!

Indeed. We had much fun when they got the details wrong on the document they sent us, when we complained they smugly informed us they copy everything exactly from the documents we sent - until they got the photocopy of the original......... And yes, proof of posting as well as that is proof of delivery in law.
