Just a curiosity thing really.

Does any one play MMORPGs*? Or am i the only really geeky bod here.

• When i say MMORPG i dont mean things like Rfactor, GTR, or Forza, i'm talking EvE, WoW, Lineage etc.....

I used to be addicted to Ultima Online.

I play Guildwars. Pretty much every game I buy I get bored with after a couple of weeks but been playing GW once or twice a week for about a year.

Good escapist fun and once you buy teh game no monthly fees.

Met a girl last year who played WoW.. she'd just been to a national meet where she and her boyfriend had gone dressed as their online characters !!! can see why these games have the image they do really.

Actually apart from the slightly goth look she was sporting she was quite nice... well quite nice in the way that most 22 year old girls are to a slightly drunk 38 year old at a tedious Christmas party they didnt want to be at

Have played Eve Online. Reclaimed my life back.

stick hooked on eve online, but also spend most weekends doing outside stuff to give some balance

Played DAOC and WOW, way too much.

Quit now, and over em. Well I'd still like to play WoW a bit and real wars was great in DAOC... shame my accounts dead. But I have a life now..

I play WoW, probably too much but still have a life, i dont get all these people that say i quit and i have a life now,

awesome game though, i get bored of other games in about a day and they seem to always be a waste of mony but i get my moneys worth out of it =D

It's the personality type really. I found EVE:Online (think Elite, all grown up) to be frighteningly addictive, because it's very very numbers heavy and being a geek... math attracts me

Because post lvl 60 to do anything takes many multiples of hours with huge groups and massive time investment.

Much as I love MMO's and WoW to be competative in it requiresyou to sacrifise significant time from family & other fun real world stuff.

i generally play after 11 on weekdays so time isnt an issue, (i dont need much sleep)

i see where you are coming from with the real life things but tbh, if you're ditching your mates, family, gf/bf for wow. your a bit week minded.

How rude of me!

Just realised i started this thread, and then ran away for 2 weeks. Should have stated the reason i'm asking, is to get recommendations.

i've played EvE (i'm Jaegerknack in game) for 2 and a bit years, apart from a dalliance with city of heroes/villains, and still (mostly) enjoying it, but i'm thinking a break from eve would probably be a good idea.

Just wondering what other sort of Sci-Fi (sorry, dont like orks+orkery type settings) MMOs there were If any!

To be honest, EVE:Online crushed Earth & Beyond... Starwars: Galaxies is reportedly not that brilliant....

SciFi/Elite/Expore type games... not a lot really. I'm given to understand a Startrek one is in the works; but some descriptions on the site make me a bit 'eh' of it.
