Closing down threads......

It concerns me that threads can be closed down willy nilly because there is a similar thread going on somewhere else. It also concerns me that the originator of the thread doesn't even get informed that his thread will be shut down or be given the opportunity to state why the thread should be left open.

The McRae issue is a sad and tragic event and i posted my response in JapChat, which in the first instance was utter disbelief. I thought this was appropriate due to the McRae link with Subaru Impreza's, and here on JapChat we love our Scooby's and other RiceRockets. Long after the main thread has gone quiet Scooby lovers and other JapCar/Rally officionados may still be talking about this in JapChat and as such i feel it is appropriate to leave the thread open.

If you dissagree with me please tell me so and why. Equally if you agree with me please say so. I have asked for my thread to be re-opened and we'll see what happens. What i am unsure about is who can close a thread down and what the procedure is.

I closed one yesterday simply because there were about threads cropping up in every forum about it.

It's no reflection on the original poster, and it's not intended to offend anyone, just to manage some of the duplication.

I closed it with a link to the main thread, I also pm'd you with an explination, apoligies if you did not recieve it.
There have been many threads on this and it is an important topic but best not fragmented across many forums and many posts.

Fair enough and i hear what you're all saying. It would have been appropriate however just to have been advised of the fact, and i didn't receive an email availing me of the situation either. I would have been absolutely fine with it from the off and wouldn't have said a dickie bird!!

This isn't some competition or anything though and i just felt it was appropriate to have an entry in JapChat as every Scooby lover i know is also a McRae lover. Anyway, thanks for your comments and i understand the score now. No Worries

BTW Ted....nice to see you're still about. We hardly hear a thing from you these days

Just to confirm, is the email you have registered with PH still active and working? I ask because it's an automated facility (that we edit) that sends to your registered e-mail, and many times people's addresses they signed up with years ago are no longer active or checked.

Certainly the system itself works as I reported my own thread for duplication and got an email when it was removed.

Maybe it was blocked by a spam filter?

All emails from PH come through just fine. They have never been blocked and i create rules for the different emails that come to me. So any PH emails go through to my Motoring Folder in Outlook. Besides before i empty my junk emails folder i always check to see what's in there just in case.
