Another great driver gone.. and in a helicopter crash, rather than at speed in his Subaru.

A memorable quote from the man himself:
"When it comes to computers and electronics, give me 300 brake horsepower, a winding road -- and no brakes, and then you've got my attention!"

He'll be sadly missed by many.

Graham H.

we have fond memories of colin doing what he did best on the r.a.c. cant remember the year, but he had led the rally from the start, only to fall off the road on the final stage. as the cars headed back to chester no one knew whether he had held on to the lead. he lost it to carlos sainz. as the spainiard reached the eastgate clock, there was a cheer. then, colin's subaru appeared with not one undamaged panel on it. the crowd roared and he did his trademark donuts for the crowd in front of the chester grosvenor. a copper that was standing by me just turned his back as he knew there was no chance he would walk away had he tried to stop the celebrations. a top man, he will be sorely missed. has anyone noticed the irony in the fact that both he and richard burns died in circumstances un connnected with their chosen sport? for what it's worth, my condlences to those he leaves behind.

Just read that Dave Richards, manager of the Suburu team back when Colin was winning, has just walked away from his own helicopter crash today, in Oxfordshire, on his way back from the Belgian Grand Prix. Coming 24 hours after Colins crash that is really, spooky!
