I am a self confessed petrolhead. I always have been, ever since I was a wee boy, but I have managed to hide this secret till now, by buying relatively anonymous saloon cars which nobody notices.

This all changed when I bought a TVR recently. Now people stare at me wherever I go. If I park to go for a pie or a pee, when I get back there's usually somebody standing staring and wanting to know what it is.

Other drivers in long convoys behind a moped or something all slow down to let me past (surely they can't all be that much slower than me?) and then toot in a friendly way to let me back in half-way up the convoy, sometimes indicating helpfully that I could have passed 2 more cars - but who wants to take chances eh?

Being a shy and quiet sort of chap, I can't take it any more. This car is getting on my nerves big time.

What should I do?

Dear HaggisHead,

There is a simple solution to your worries - swap your over-bearing, monstor of a car with fellow PH member Dick Dastardly's.

His BMW is so bland I'm sure you will have no worries driving it, returning you back within your shell in no time.

I am sure he could be persuaded to participate in the exchange too.

Regards, CR

It's black.

Our mate Claire just twisted my arm.

When do you want to make the trade?

don't fancy black - far too classy, still likely to attract too much unwelcome attention.

Naah I think I'll persevere and see if I get used to the one I have... It's difficult but I'll try...

Anyway I suspect that you and Claire are not entirely unrelated...
