XBox 360 Elite or Xbox 360 or PS3?

Which one should I buy?
Get the house kitted out with a new phone line etc soon (i'm moving from parental property) so i'm on the hunt for a new pc and a new console.
I've always been a playstation man before but I think the price of the ps3 is stinky old pants. I am tempted but not for £450!!!
That leads me on to the xbox, with Airborne of course. So is the Elite worth the extra pennies? It looks nice and the HDMI would be useful when I get a HD tv (one that runs 1080p) but until then??
Help me please, all of you!!!
P.S getting a dell system I think, does anybody rate this company?

If you can get an Elite for the same price or not much more than a premium then you may as well go for it, but component cables can run 1080p as well.
I'd get a 360 any day of the week.
Dell are a solid make of pc, but if it were I'd make my own. Its piss easy to do and can save you shit loads of money to spend better speccing the PC.

It would be PS3 for me but im biased. I think the best thing to do is research both and look whats out now for them and whats going to be out in the future and make your own choice according to your personal taste. One thing I will say is dont be fooled by the pricing smoke screens there realy isnt that much in it. PS3 makes you pay it all at once and 360 makes you pay just as much but in smaller broken down sections. Dont think youll be disapointed with either.

HDMI is useless unless you want to upscale DVD's (which the tv will do anyhow, and you can do over VGA) or play games/movies at 1080p.
1080i is just as good for HD movies realy (same in fact) and available over component.
Theres 1 game that renders at 1080, all the rest are 720p anyhow.
i.e. HDMI = willy waving - unless your component ins are all used, or you dont have VGA.
PS3 is built well, but no games, and very few coming out.
360 has a ton of ace games, and loads coming out. Get a bog standard 360.

While this is technically true are you aware of any TV's which accept 1080p over component? I am under the impression that virtually none of the current Tv's will accept anything above 1080i over compenent, even if they accept 1080p over HDMI and have a 1080x1920 panel.

A) Latest console so theoretically better kit, newer technology et al
B) I've had both a PS1 & PS2 and have enjoyed them
C) I wanted a Blu-ray player (as personally, the fact it's bundled with the PS3 means I reckon it'll win the HD war - evidently so do blockbuster video....)
D) Whilst the games aren't there yet, they will be eventually.
E) As someone else said, when you add all the componentry to a 360 that the PS3 has already, the price comes out almost identical.
These points meant the PS3 was the right console for me. You will no doubt have different wants & needs.

Get an XBox 360 premium (white one with 20GB HDD) no need for HDMI as the component cables do the job.
For the PC have a look at mesh computers. If the budgets higher have a look at alienware PC's
P.S with the change from the 360 and the mesh computer you could get a nice new iPod..

As for the Dell, unless you have bit's of an existing system (Nice monitor, XP or Vista) you want to reuse, or you are looking at a gaming machine or something else specialist, I would say you really can't go wrong with a Dell.
Even if you shop around online you won't be able to build a comparable PC for the same money if you need a monitor and a Windows OS.
If you want to play games though, you would probably be better off building yourself as the Dell video cards are pretty lack luster unless you spend megga ££'s.

C) Its an easy 50/50 on the HD format war now, HD DVD is going to have cheap players out soon ($150us) but BR has a little more movies. Oh and Blockbuster are owned by Paramount who have a vested intrest in BR so thats no suprise.
D) Not if it continues to bomb.
E) What if you dont need all the add ons, remember its a game console, the 360 lets you play games for half the cost of a PS3.

Not really. A standard X360 is £200-210, whereas a PS3 is at least £425. You don't have any choice with the PS3, whereas you do with the X360.RobDickinson said:

C) Not really. Blu-ray is without a doubt ahead. Paramount owning blockbuster is irrelevant. They will ultimately back whichever side they believe will increase their bottom line. At the moment, that is obviousley blu-ray.
D) Is it bombing? I'm fairly sure it isn't, it's just price prohibitive for most people in the middle of the year. Let's see what the Christmas market brings.
E) Quite. But I DO want all the add ons, hence why I said "I opted for the PS3 for a number of reasons". If the OP has the same wants & needs as me, he'll go for the PS3. If he hasn't, he won't.
I'm simply trying to put an alternative viewpoint on things, I realise consoles are a veritable hot bed of frustration (
