It would depend on budget, if 16K is pushing it then if the worst does happen.......

Whereas 15K for a chimaera should buy you a really good car with piece of mind.

Yes it is the biggest concern, and yes i'd stay away,at least for now.Buy yourself a good Chim and leave a couple of £k to ensure you can cope with the worst, which,if you get a proper one in the first place, will not happen. When buying any high performance car of this nature it would always be prudent to have some kind of slush fund, and a TVR is no exception.A good chim will give you many miles of great spots car driving pleasureyesdrivingbiggrin

15k will get you the one of the best and latest Chims or one of the oldest/cheapest Tams. Most tams sit around the 20-22k mark for that sort of age so ask yorself why it's so cheap.
Personally for that sort of budget I'd plump for a Chim

That's a problem a lot of people would like to have! The Chim is certainly more of a known quantity, perhaps reading the forum dedicated to the speed six engine will help make your mind up one way or the other.

I'd go for the Chimaera at that budget - as has been said, it's the price of a very good Chimaera or a cheap (and probably not so good) Tamora.

Bear in mind running costs will most likely be lower on the Chimaera too (RV8 servicing costs are lower) not to mention Speed Six rebuild possibilities.

At that money, I also would go for the Chimaera. Its just too tight for a Tamora if anything needs fixing.

But go and drive biggrin examples of both. They are completely different and a test drive will answer your question for you.

If you had a Tamora would you be able to wake up every morning to see that horrible rear end on your driveway?

Drive them both, ideally back to back. I found the Tamora awful to drive with poorly placed pedals. You may find the Chimaera too heavy etc.. so then it may help you decide if you don't like how one or the other drives...

Of course, you may love both so much you rob a bank to purchase one of each, but don't blame me.....
