Following an exhaust mod I have found that the car is hunting on idle usually up at 1500 rpm, sometimes dropping to normal level, but then back up again. I also noticed the temperature up to 100 degrees, it has never been over 90 before even in heavy traffic. I have cleaned the steper motor but it was already clean and has still made no differance. Could it be related to the exhaust mod? Anyone got any ideas? The car has always run really well till now. Cheers - Jon

Could be the same I mentioned in another thread. Ground/earthing of front chassis member. The fans don't start to kick in and the temperature goes to 100. Before this happened to my Griff it also hunted to 1500 RPM. If you have a multimeter check the resistance between fan ground and the chassis (for instance at the alternator ground, which is connected to another chassis point. Should be close to zero and not 1-2 ohms like mine was!

Hope this is it, Peter

Thats pretty much whats happening. Its running fine if a bit clod most of the time. In bad traffic it starts to warm up and has got upto almost 100. It only starts to hunt when it gets very hot. I thought the fans were kicking in as I thought I could hear them, but its hard to hear anything over the sound of the exhaust!
Do you think this could be as a direct result of the exhaust mod (also had wiper motor replaced), if so I will take it back to those that did the change. If it is more likely a coincedance, I will take it to my normal guy who is much closer. As ever all comments/suggestions are greatly appreciated!
I really wouldnt know where to find a ground point, and have no alternator. Its nice to be able to suggest that the issue it to the garage though, and I want to know if Offords should be fixing their mistake for free or if its something I should just get fixed by my usual guy. Again, thanks for suggestions so far!

I had only one fan working on mine, after further investigation it was the plug connector, changed this all fine. It seems one fan will let the temp creep up as was happening on mine.

Thanks
