Having been so impressed by the F430, just thought I would try the G spyder on Saturday before making a final decision… and ended up choosing the G.

So, I have a new MY2008 black manual with black interior, titanium callistos, lifting gear, nav, etc coming in about 2 weeks – the dealer principal ordered it for himself a while ago but I’ve nicked it and we’re both happy biggrin

Just a point on the customer experience here in Switzerland compared to what I’ve been used to in the UK: in a word, fantastic. I turned up on Saturday, spent the whole afternoon with the dealer principal. He gave me the keys to their demo Spyder, gave me a route and told me to enjoy, no nanny in the passenger seat, not even an ID check. In the meantime while I was scaring sheep, cows and little kittens, he kept my 3 year old son entertained, put him in the cars in the showroom, gave him a toy Murci, t-shirt, etc. Anyway, if that wasn’t enough, when I was done with the Spyder & thinking of leaving after being there for 2 hours, he asked me if I’d like to take the Superleggera out. Of course this meant moving a few cars out of the way in the showroom but it would have been rude to say no! ("Taking the Superleggera out" meant, at the dealer's suggestion, fitting the baby seat in the car & going out with a boggle-eyed 3 year old son)

Anyway, can’t wait for October bounce

Hi Andrew

Congrats on the purchase you will not regret it.

Sorry to jack your thread I should be coming to Swizerland in the next month or so. Just wondered what the roads are like over there and any good hotels you could recommend.

Warning, the roads are covered by cameras and the police get really pissed off when they stop you at >200km/h
If you have a rental car the police will write demanding fines be paid

Thanks, can't wait to get it! I'm still new to Switz, only been here 2 weeks, but as Traxx says, be careful where you have your fun, tax collection cameras are evil and always work. And don't forget it is kmh not mph; a colleague was "done" for 5kmh over the limit (adjusted to 1kmh as they give you 4 leeway, generous souls). But so far I've found wonderful roads around Zug and Aegeri lakes, and in the countryside near St Gallen where the dealership is. Can't wait to try some of the passes. Having said all of that, I'm not sure what they can do if you have UK plates, I've read conflicting advice about whether they can get to you. I guess if you're going fast enough, the inducement for them to try is there. Fines are income related after a certain speed (not exactly sure think 20% or more over the limit). I know one guy locally fined CHF 25000 reduced to about 16000 on appeal.

Lock up your camera detector too...

If you come near Zug or Oberaegeri, let me know!

I will be going / staying in Zurich.

I'm hoping to drive down through France and into Switzerland from there. I will take it very, very easy then.

Whoa income related fines, thats a bummer!

Given the sort of firms based in Zug, I imagine there must be rather a lot of Ferraris and Lamborghinis on the roads
