Come on, it's not so bad after all.
As Tim said the engines "held out", that's the most important to me.
The mechanical failures they went through can happen to anybody else's car. (see the Racers Group GT3 RS clutch going after 5 hours
)
Next time they will do better, no doubt about it.

Bentley - win!

Porsche - win!
TVR - well it was their first year, it normally takes 3 years to achieve a result. Also numbers count; TVR should help CDL and Eclipse put a 2004 together. Le Mans can only help road car developement. Ben S stated that no TVR parts broke, but parts broke and the cars did not finish. TVR can only climb from here.
The Morgan team was greatly missed; hope to see them back in 2004 with Martin Short.

So sorry that's it finished this year and we're not on the rosturm "but who cares" there will always be next year.
Although there will be the Nit Pickers and other childish comments from the joyous winners; we must give credit to the teams participating, the 1000 plus cars that made the journey to support the teams, Dewalt for their sponsorship and the media for the continued coverage.
Although I didn't contribute financially this year, maybe a concerted effort in future by all members could help the cause?

What a great effort eh? Bit peeved that the newspapers only dedicated a little bit of space to the whole race with no mention of TVR at all.
I've just emailed the Sun with some info and explained why the cars retired but that TVR were 5th in class and ahead of more established rivals like Porsche and Ferrari.
If anyone mentions TVR and reliability just remind them of the other retirements - Porsche, Ferrari and Pagani!

Fantastic effort by TVR, Richard Stanton, and the team.
Hopefully by next year the homologation problems will have been resolved, so we can expect quicker TVRs too. It would be great to have 4 or 5 out there.
Re. reliability, I was amazed at how bumpy the road parts of the circuit looked - on parts of the Mulsanne (sp?) straight they were being hammered, so even setups and parts proven on normal circuits would be subjected to completely different stresses.
Anyway, roll on next year. And well done to Bentley!

At the end of the day, the cars were carrying an extra 30kgs, and apparantly 40bph less, and they STILL managed to get as high as 5th in class.
Ok, so the cars broke for what ever reason, but I can't think of a single team in GT/GTS thats has managed to finish the race in their 1st year (Lotus Esprit, Bugatti EB110, Morgan, Ferrari 550, Pagini). Roll on 2004 !

When the first car went off after 11 laps I was watching the race live on Euro Sport (+ Euro Sport News !!) I ended up shouting at the TV that he was pushed, you saw the car move over to let a faster car though then was suddenly sent spinning out that the recovery vehicle ran over the front as well 
talk about bad luck. The 92 car ended up with a gearbox failure, given that the team used a T5 box used by many teams it was a surprise to hear that this had failed. Still several 911’s and 360’s had component failures so the ‘reliability’ stick can’t be waved in TVR’s direction.
To hear that the Spyker had finished the 24hrs was a bit of shock though

Well done to all the team and factory for a great effort and please come back next year !! oh and any chance that SMTS or the like can be commissioned to produce a run of T400R cars in the De Walt livery?
