Hi all,
I got my 4.0 badge on the plenum missing and also one of the TVR badges on the rocker cover is missing. I would like to get them back. Does anybody out there know where I can source them and what is best to attach them to the engine with?

I also got a bust drivers seatbelt. Does anyone know where I can locate one?

Additionally although im very happy with the performance of the TVR, I would like to know what cost effective modification other members have made that they feel are the best.

I also see mention of a 4.6 upgrade. For a bit of a newbie like myself what does this involve and what are the results? Although I have no immediate plan (aside some simple tweaks)I would like to plan/budget in something a bit more adventurous.

Sorry for all the question. Maybe I should have distributed them over a few threads.

I got a replacement '400' badge from TVR Power (01247 636 6177). Cost £10 including delivery. I've seen rocker cover badges on ebay, but their as rare as hen's teeth! i cut the lugs of a bonnet badge and lued it in place, fits perfectly and i think it looks better. it might be on my profile pic, cann't remember.

Has nobody done any simple mods they can recommend to me? Was thinking of induction kits etc or there little value in this?

I have the induction kit and it's a great, low-cost upgrade. The engine seems to rev more keenly and throttle response feels a little sharper. The induction roar is also improved.

One thing baffles me slightly though - you're already thinking about an increased-capacity upgrade... Why not just go for a 4.5/5.0 in the first place?confused

Thanks can you give me detail son the induction kit you used and where I can find one.
A good question 'Why didnt I buy a 4.5 or 5.0 in the first place?'
The simple answer is wasted over 500miles travelling looking at, what I felt was rubbish examples for the price asked. I did find an advertised 4.0HC (although I dont belive it is a HC but cant verifiy). When I viewed it it had a full Henleyy Heritage TVR history with lots of paperwork and a recent body of stripdown. The car looked way better then anything else I had looked at and was considerably cheaper. I got impatient and felt with a good body and chassis I could perform some simple changes and maybe ( and im only thinking of it. modify the motor in the future) biggrin

definite 1st step is the induction, use the search facility looking trumpet length, plenum spacer etc.

then a new cam

then head work

then look at capacity

Bear in mind with most mods you have to have the fuelling re-set to get the most out of it. Which is why aftermarket ECU's are becoming more popular, as a re-chip will cost about 500 quid a time. You also can lose the restrictive airflow meter.

Buying a complete 500 engine may save you money in the long run IMHO. They sound expensive but if you offset what you can sell your old engine for I think it is quite an attractive upgrade.

Thanks. I search around for an induction system.
I assume to sort the fueling out after mods is a dealer / specialist job and not something that can be tackled without proper gear?

Changing the fuelling from its base settings is a specialist job as it needs a new chip to be 'blown' and then installed in the Engine control unit (ECU)

The std map will cope with mild mods but not a cam change, there's also a fair bit to gained from ditching the distributor and using coil packs to control the spark.
