I have a 1987 90 county station wagon which is in it's original white colour, currently with optional green algae.

I need to do some repairs to the bulkhead and my brother in law has kindly offered to respray it for me - he's in the trade.

Althought I want to make the vehicle presentable I have no plans or funds to really go to town on it so I'll probably keep it fairly original looking. I don't mind the current white colour but don't really think it's that great.

I'm undecided between going for a colour available in 1987 - I presume that's limited to white, blue, red or green? ...or one of the later model metallic colours.

What's your views?

I have considered that, or just drab green but I'm a bit concerned it might limit my potential market whenever I sell it.

...am I being too vain!

I would go with tradition i.e. primer or hammerite black. And what's with all this 'spraying' nonsense? A bit perfectionist isn't it? What happened to craftsmanship?

Oh alright then, I vote: green

Black. Preferably matt, preferably applied with a brush.

I agree with the other posters, paint it solid black, and maybe even get some cheapo window tint on the windows. It'll look awesome then IMHO cool

A black 90 with privacy tints, the natural choice for the off-road hitman. wink

Would look good though.

For ease of resale, if the truck is nice and tidy, one of the most popular colours is Epsom Green Metallic.

Don't paint it metallic - old 90's in metallic always look w@nk IMHO.

Stick with proper LR colours - personally I always liked boring old Arran Beige as it looked the same whether it was dirty or clean and doesn't show the inevitable electrolytic corrosion like brighter colours do.

If your keeping the rest of it stock 90 csw then I'd respray it white with the original county stripes...

old 90 counties are cool especially with a v8... mine was an early one complete with 2.25 5 bearing engine !!!!

On the older Landies a metallic colour just doesn't look right. A place near where I live used to respray them all sorts of wierd metallic colours before selling them but they always looked terrible - even when they actually managed to get a decent job done.
Avoid silver, it looks great on newer landies but terrible on older ones.

I'd stick to the flat colours. My choices would be 1) Green 2) Blue 3) Red

Are your wheel arch rubbers in black or body coloured?

Yellow looks fantastic but only with all the other bits - door handles, grille, light surrounds, wheel arches - left in their matt black. This is the colour I'll respray my green landie if I ever get around to it.

Oh, keep the roof white too. Its amazing how far you can spot the white landie roof from when you're looking for it but if you paint it it just seems to disappear.

It's currently white with county stripes, white rostyles and white wheel arches.

I think I'm warming to the idea of a non metallic dark green, new county stripes, white roof and white wheels.

Bronze green will only be good on a totally straight vehicle.Anything other than that will show up any imperfection in the body work. And on a LR there are plenty.
