Run flats (Michelin PS2 ZP's) and nails
Discussion
Kwik fit won't repair punctures on the above tyres even though the manufacturer's performance spec says they can be repaired once and should then be disregarded. Is there any safety reason why they would take this stance? Don't particularly want to pay £225 every time I collect a nail. Does anybody know which garages will repair them?
Thanks
Thanks
BUT !
Beware - I took mine to an indy and they damaged all the rims becuase they were
obviously not used to doing run flats with the rigid side walls.
(255/35/18 90Y ZP)
Ended up with tyre not sealed correctly (leaked air) and chip out of the rim.
Not had much luck with wheels :
1) Got nail in middle of new tyre (1 month old)
2) Above happended
3) ETyres fitted the wrong type (not runflat), came back with correct tyre and trashed the rim
getting it on.
4) some scroat tried nicking the wheels using some cheap socket set and damaged the alloy coating
around every wheel nut (you would have thought after failing to get one of, he would have given up!)
I thought runflat was a description of your tyre, but its obviously the subsequent state of your wallet.

Had a screw through a rear PS2 ZP on the 335 with only 1750 miles on the clock. Luckily it did not deflate and we were able to drive around for another 500 miles until we got a replacement from Kwik Fit. They wouldn't repair it although it was almost in the centre of the tread. I would of retained the tyre and repaired it myself but it was required to be inspected as it was under warranty. I must admit though the Kwik Fit guys did a great job cleaning the wheel and making sure they didn't leave one mark on it. Glad we took out the tyre insurance as it has paid for itself already and any further claim will be a bonus.

I can't comment on Mich, but Goodyear recommends that RunOnFlat tyres be changed after they have been used under deflated conditions.
However, Goodyear understands that customers might want to repair their RunOnFlat tyres for cost reasons.
Unless otherwise specified in the car owner's manual, Goodyear RunOnFlat tyres can be repaired by a qualified tyre professional after a thorough inspection and analysis of the tyre history. In case of doubt the tyre should not be repaired. The professional who is going to repair the tyre will be responsible for his work in any case.
Goodyear doesn't support tyre repairs …
• outside the tread area
• if the inside or outside of the tyre sidewall area has been damaged by a sharp object
• if the tyre has been run at low or zero pressure for a distance longer than recommended in the vehicle’s manual or at a higher speed than recommended.. The driver has to provide the necessary information.
• if the innerliner looks damaged or rough
• if there is any damage that would make a standard tyre not repairable
Please note: If the car manufacturer doesn’t permit the repairing of RunOnFlat tyres or has special restrictions for the respective car model, the customer has to follow these guidelines.
Most standard tyres are also replaced after a puncture, especially if the tyre has been driven without pressure.

Having just bought a car with run-flats, I made some enquiries on his subject and was told that the reason run-flats cannot be repaired is that there is no way of Joe the tyre-changer being able to determine if the sidewall has been compromised while the car was being driven with the tyre in a defated state, therefore they just say it can't be repaired to avoid any potential issues once the repair has been done.
My initial feeling is that once they wear out I will be replacing them with normal tyres, as I find the sidewalls way too hard whcih causes a fair amount of nervousness when the car is riding over cr@p roads.
