Loud exhausts and trackdays
Discussion
Sire,
If you look at www.trackdays.co.uk/calendar, they list events and include details of any noise restrictions.
You should be able to find something there, to suit.

My De-catted level one (the quietest level)Capristo 355 failed the noise regs at Oulton Park 3 weeks back while the 360 CSs and even TVRs all passed. Another mate of mine who has an after market system on his 360 spider also failed the noise dbs. Mine got through with a little messing about with the revs
but my mates did not. The noise regs for that track was 105dbs, mine was 112 and my mates 360 was 114 IIRC.
I had an email sent to me by the track only two days ago telling me that this Septembers track day may be the last one that most cars may be able to attend at this track. This is due to even tighter environmental changes
Which means basically that the new housing estate built near there are complaining. WTF!!! they have always said take it from the roads and onto the track. Then they whack up the trackday prices, then they tighten the noise regs so much that the average supercar cant even get on
I cant even do Brunters me self any more due to tree huggers forcing environmental issues. Bolloxs to it IMO the roads good enough for me

Ah, but it is easier to place controls on to an existing business, especially if they want to stay in business when their license is up for renewal.
Which means basically that the new housing estate built near there are complaining. WTF!!! When you live near a race track expect to hear engines. Its not like someone crept in one night and built a track, without anyone noticing. People complain of the noise of planes, near airports. WTF? Didn't you notice it? Did no one mention it?
It probably isn't just Tree Huggers, but old farts that want to enjoy the/potter in the garden, take afternoon naps all during the week and then go out for a drive on Sunday.
Going to stop before a full blown rant starts.

go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on - have a good rant, get it out of your system! You know you want to!!
A few years ago, at a track day at Goodwood, a Murciélago fitted with a sports-exhaust failed the noise test but nobody could hear the tester say so at first as there were a couple of helicopters taking off nearby...
Once that was sorted out, the owner of the Murciélago attempted to stuff the exhaust full of padding paper and cotton wool, most of which was last spotted some miles off Lanzarote.
Civil servants - give them some power and team them up with a Parish council and you might as well never drive any car near the place again!
that was your cue m'lord Baron - by the way, how's the Lady Abigail?

Mate I have a decatted capristo'd which is a tad loud. I got a set of mufflers from Merlin Motorsport at Castle Coombe and they work ok for the initial standing noise tests if you only rev it to say 4000rpm.
However if the trackday also has driveby noise meters you will need to be careful as even though these meters are 60 feet away a capristo or tubi at full scream (even with mufflers) will set them off.
PS FSpider, cheers for the reccomendation re the spacers, Im now running the hill engineering 11mm ones which allows me to run 295 rears. Just did 2000 miles round spain on the eurohoon and the new 295's made a noticeable difference when flying up twisty spanish mountains!

Hi Guys,
Anyone who has heard my Gallardo will tell you how ear splitting loud it is on full chat (127Db's). However with it being used on the track alot i have developed with a mixture of parts from Demon tweeks and jetex some suitable bolt on mufflers which do the trick. At Prodrive it was tetsed at 98Db's at 4500 rpm and Elvington 101Db's also at 4500 rpm. So you can have the best of both worlds with a little engineering jiggery pokery.
So with the further advance of bulls..t noise regs (Donington is a classic example with A F...ING airport next to it) i can only see it geting worse.
Andy.
