Getting some kent cams fitted next week, Is it a must to get my car re-mapped afterwards?? will it run ok with the ECU??

im guessing the remap will sort the fueling out if there is a problem with this?

Oh ok mate the fueling should be sorted with the remap. Booked in with angel tuning.

Going to run realy lumpy after fitting isnt it?

Angel only do generic remaps don't they? They can't map to take advantage of the cams unless they have a preset map, what car is it for?

Usually the best bet. It's well worth having a proper remap done. No idea about tuners for your car, but a proper remap will always be the best solution, and give you maximum gains. Without a remap there's very little point of fitting cams, as the fuelling etc is all setup for the previous lift/duration.
Make sure you find somewhere tried and tested who know what they're doing, at the end of the day a remap is only as good as the person doing it.
I could give you loads of places to ask, but I only really know japanese cars.

all depends on how wild the cam is

you are replacing the cam to get more air into the engine

this needs more fuel and usually a spark change

should run ok

but for safety and top performance it should be re mapped

after you have changed all the parts you want to change or elkse another re mapp is needed

ie exhaust

Im all ears mate.

Angel tuning and red dot is who i know realy. They can both cover the Essex area.

Im booked in with angel tuning and then having it R/R at the same point to check gains. But there is talk that my ECU may be password prottected.

If it doesnt work they give a full refund so thats not so bad we shall see.

red dot can do custom maps mate, they are the ones I would use ahead of Angel (had an AT map taken off about a year ago on my Punto)

Right just had my cams fitted. As Uprated cams do it iddles abit lumpy But one thing i noticed it occasionly stalls. Most of the time it doesnt but only sort of happens when coming down from a high rev.

I havnt had a re-map done yet do you think this would sort the problem of stalling?

Power is great though i must admit. Its pushed most of the power higher up now.

Yeah the stalling sounds like a sympton of the wilder cams, getting it mapped properly will ease this though may not make it as smooth idling as standard cams

The remap should sort the stalling, are they race cams or road cams?

Race cams mate.

Power is all the way up the rev range! can feel the power and torque quite easily.

that would explain it then mate, race cams will always be lumpy at idle as race cars aren't often left idling for long. remap will ease it a bit though

Yea not too worried about the idleing. Soudns like a right slag :P

and it only tends to stall when the engine is cold. Anyway re-map booked for 17th with angel tuning at there new branch in bassildon.

Hopefully they can sort something out for me. The Ecu's in the new c2's are quite difficult to get around aparantly there is some password they have to get around.
