FOr background infor see "For those who like a larf..." thread.

The situation now is that I have one fixed penalty notice for 87 in DC NSL.

I want to make this as difficult irritating and painful as I can for the Plod.

I think I have four options:

1) Insist on court, guidlines indicate I will still get 3pts and 60 quid despite having gone to court.

2) Abusive letter?

3) Enclose something faily disgusting in the envelope with the FPN.

4) Make a formal complaint against the Camera guy, just for the hell of it...

Anyone care to offer another option or recomend one of the above?

To be honest, since you were doing 87 and failed to spot three camera vans, I think you should be happy you've only got the one ticket, put it down to experience, and learn to keep your eyes open.

If you go to court, you may end up with more points/bigger fine.

Re.the others, surely you have better things to do with your time?

Are you sure you want to go to court? You're only 3mph away from the mythical 30mph over the limit - could be looking at over 3 points if you get the legal beagles on a bad day. Plus you look like you're going to lose unless, so unless you want to represent yourself you will incurr extra costs.

I'm not proposing you bend down and take it up the ae all the time, but maybe this is a time to take the one FPN and let it go. Can you afford more than 3 points? Afterall, if you take it to court can the decision to look at it as one offence be reversed? Then you could be looking at 9 points which can really stuff you up

As to the others, well you make the call on these I know I wouldn't do them. Probably time to let it go.

P.S. I'm not a plod just another ordinary motorist who's sick of inappropriate speed cams/vans.

I don't claim to have great observation but these cameras were v. visible so it wasn't an observaiton issue.

Just not clear what they were up to.

Bad maths! 17mph over!

Inclined to agree. Life is too short.

Doh, thought you were in a 60, not a 70. Bad maths indeed

TO be fair if I'd been in a single carriageway NSL I'd have deserved points at 87! It's the fact it was safe *and* that they tried to divide the offnece into three identical offences that get's my goat.

I dont think there is anything you can do to make it inconvieneient.

They are paid to do this so anything you do wont make a difference to them.

However a very large tyre and some flammable liquid....

I'm not going to deny that I'm a bit peeved...

...but burning them to death in their van seems a little harsh! ;-)

I noticed many camera with the lens taped over in a two hour journey today. To be encouraged.

Might well try it myself one of these days....

In that case be careful how you do it.
Police deal with the very depths of lowlife everyday of the year. We are used to it!

The best and most applicable way to deal with it from your list.

2) Abusive letter?

Depending on the content of your abuse = offence under the postal acts and public order act.

3) Enclose something faily disgusting in the envelope with the FPN.

Offence, under the postal Acts.

4) Make a formal complaint against the Camera guy, just for the hell of it...

Waste of time unless you have a legitimate reason for doing so.
Are you going to complain because he happened to be at work that day?

Anyone care to offer another option or recomend one of the above?

If i was not feeling benevolent, I would recommend numbers two or three as a good idea!

Enough said about your colleagues! ;-)

Have a got a fairly *good* chance of just getting the 3 and 60 quid in th ereal world? Do magistrates follow the guidelines closely?

Depending on the content of your abuse = offence under the postal acts and public order act.

Not proper abuse. My plan would have been to find some heart rending case of assault on a minor or something that occured on the day I was convicted and ask them to explain why I was a more pressing case than preventing said crime. (Flawed logic but needs must...)

Offence, under the postal Acts.

Damn! FX: Puts 12x12 picture of Anne Widdecombe back in drawer

Why not? I've been complaining about that fact for weeks on PH! ;-)

To be honest, I wrote this in a childish mood earlier. The letter goes to some poor sod who happens to work in the camera department. It's not like I can ensure the letter goes to a bloke who can make policy decisions about use of camera vans. (For instance, who would complain about camera vans outside schools?)

I'll check out the court situation. If I can rely on 3 points and 60 quid then I quite fancy court. Esp since it might be decided that taking me to court is a waste of time...

Otherwise I'll fix a wry smile (and maybe enclose the photo of my speedo at 110 on my motorbike riding one handed on the A23.)

Lets just hope the Camera manager gets his car cloned ASAP.
