Scotland - Speeding Penalties
Discussion
Chaps - a question for the Scottish BiB if we have any! :-)
What are the boundaries between a fixed penalty and a court summons as regards speeding in the Borders? Is an alleged offence that's more than 25mph over the posted limit definitely going to be a summons or can a Camera Partnership elect to offer a FP? Even if it's 1mph over that threshold?
Cheers all,
J.

Pray that he don't end up at Dumfries court. They ban many with little consideration to loss of liveliehood and/or impact on others. Generally in Scotland they tend to levy heavier penalties on court appearances than down South.
Get yourself over to pepipoo...........
ETA. Guidelines are the same here as in England so are as DVD says; if 86 'they' are in court, over reading speedo and it'll be a NIP

If they stick to the Guidelines then its for Court 86 in a 60. Under that should have qualified for a Conditional offer.
Is that speed an estimation from his own speedo which probaby overreads by a couple or three mph in which case C.O.

Re Pepipoo...yeah we looked at that...I might be doing something wrong...but to be honest it's not very well laid out and doesn't seem to have much on there. The NIP wizard never seems to come back with anything useful. Much better information from the contributors on here. I think he's going to spend some money on a specialist solicitor for some advice...just in case there's some loophole which will let him off...
