Aren't Scamera vans meant to be marked up so we know that they are camera vans?

If so, then what's this trend of writing "camera partnership" on the SIDE of the van, but not on the back?????? when they park roadside, you can't tell if it's a CV, or a normal van...

Ain't this illegal, or against the spirit of the law?

Also - illegally parked Talivans. A nice Dr France wrote to the Shropshire Star yesterday complaining about a Talivan parked in a bus stop at 8.30 on a Sunday morning snapping away merrily. He phoned the police who apparently confirmed that it's a motoring offence to park in a bus stop.

I look forward to the day when one of these civilian tax collectors is prosecuted for illegal parking or something even more dramatic!

No it isn't an offence unless the bus stop/layby is painted with double yellow lines.
It is against the rules of the Highway Code (rule 217) which is not law, just advice.

No. it is not illegal.
They should only be marked if they are used in cunjunction with capping off. Even then this is not a lawful requirement!

...just I was thinking that if it is ok for "them" to hide their identification, it must be ok for us to hide ours!

C

PS, note: "them " & "us" is not derogatory, where as "stinking scamera van driving traitors" is. I'm just waiting for the first drive-by to happen, LA style.

Heads up around SW London!

I passed one of the "Camera Partnership" (ha!) Ford Transit vans (on an 03 plate) yesterday on the A3, about 1/2 mile south of Richmond Park, going towards Guildford). It was parked just past the bus stop before the Raynes Park/New Malden exit.

The camera was placed in front of the van, taking pictures of the rear of speeding cars.
