Yeah, I know - hardly a sexy subject but one that needs answering!
It's getting to that time of year when the local roads are going to be covered in mud etc (rural) and I'd like to get some mudflaps for the 540. Can you still get them from BMW (or alternate source) and are they easy to fit (ie, just bolt/clip on - no wing liners to remove)?
I've seen some advertised on e-bay but they state they're for the saloon - I've got a touring.
Cheers,
Steve

The BMW part numbers are the same for the touring and the saloon - so there shouldn't be a problem, but make sure there's a fitting kit with them (don't know what's supposed to be in it though).

To be honest the mud flaps will trap the water and cause rusting. You would be better off without and giving your car a rinse down after use if you are that worried?
DisagreeGenuine OE ones cause absolutly no problems
Sold a 95 Touring that we owned for 8yrs with 104k on it no rust at all
Have a 94 Saloon with 83k on it no rust at all
Both have Genuine Front and rear OE Mudflaps fitted from new
Horses for courses, Scotty. The plus side of fitting them is that the sides (especially the front doors) don't get caked in crud and the rear tailgate/window doesn't suck up so much crud either. That's what we've found with the Mrs's V40 at least.
Anyway, washing the car after every jaunt would send the next door neighbour over the edge. She thinks I'm overly anal about car washing already
I don't do it that often (once/twice a month) but when I do, I do it properly.
Cheers,
Steve
