Watching the news last night, and I noticed that the Suffolk CC was complaining about the foreigners coming to Peterborough and causing crime. But she didn't quite say it like that. They were Inward Migrators - Presumably otherwise known as Immigrants... I wonder what she calls emigrators - outward migrators?!?!?! Just struck me that such is the Politically Correct world in which they live, they even have to make up new phrases to hide what they mean...

Ah yes, and of course she also mentioned that they all drink drive, however this was due to Cultural Differences - No mention of banging them all up and making sure they know the laws before coming here, ignorance is no defence etc... Considering how dangerous Drink Driving actually is as well...

Was this Julie Spence? If so CC of Cambridgeshire not Suffolk who is a man called Simon Ash.

Her problem is the vast cost of dealing with them when they are bought into the police system.
Interpreting costs and increased time being used to deal with them because of the language problems.

this is actaully a good cheif constable...

pointing out real socail problems with immigration, tha previously they would have been to pc or scared for their career to even talk about, let alone in public...

ie it may be tactfully phrased - but is basically saying drink driving has gone up massively, due to a culture attitude, plus carrying knifes, and she wants the resources to DEAL with it...

she is not saying they shoouldn't bee here,- because she'd be hung drawn and quartered - but of course this forces the gov now has social issues of immigration on the agenda, not just the supposed economic benefit, so they have to discuss, social cost, health, welfare, infrastructure, etc.

Yes, it must be Cambridgeshire, My mistake there.

It is a good point that she is bringing it out into the open a bit more as well !! Though it is still disconcerting that the way to do so must be so rose tinted...

phrased very carefully, but still political dynamite..

if she had said it anyother way, she'd have been attacked for being racist, and the ISSUE ignored.

Which really is the saddest part of it....

"They" fall off the road with alarming regularity round here. The other problem is the majority don't have insurance. Top tip from a native Peterboroughian is to give anything with a white rear plate a very wide berth indeed yes

What has race got to do with it?

Zero, in my submission.

Nothing per se, but the whole point is that the crimes (well, Drink Driving at least) are being committed by "inward migrators" and therefore she would be accused of being racist I assume in the normal Laba Party way - anything which disagrees with their view is racist etc.. had she actually said "those feckin' immigrants are drink driving and causing accidents, so I need more money to deal with them"...

Earlier this year I exchanged letters with my MP about the DVLA now supporting the police abroad who wish to prosecute/fine/award points to you for breaking foreign motoring laws. He confirmed this to be the case and also confirmed that the government did not plan to explain the differences in law in each country -- that was up to us to discover.

Yet when "they" come here we seem to bend over backwards to take account of cultural differences, don't expect them to know the law, translate our roadsigns for them, and generally treat them very leniently.

I wonder why this is?

Currently running at some one million pounds per annum. What other country in the world provides you with an interpreter foc when you've committed a crime against their laws? You have to wait (usually in some stinking cell ... so I'm reliably informed) for days until someone from the British legation (if ther is one) turns up to see you - Streaky

isnt it nice to hear a CC talking sense? now if we can get rid of the PC crap & call a spade a spade & people who come here to commit crime, scum. then all will be fixable in the world.

Best wishes all,

Race? Not a lot.

Culture? Everything.

...and, oh, what a surprise - immigrants come from DIFFERENT CULTURES!!!

It is NOT racist to criticise the widespread and well-observed attitudes and actions of some sectors/types of immigrants. It IS racist to lump all immigrants in together.

Why is it racist to lump them all in together? They all fall into the same dykes round here anyway yes

Not ALL of them though*...

...I suspect the Poles, as one example, exhibit a rather greater work ethic than your average Englishman. While someone from a Baltic state (who probably sounds no different to the untrained ear) may have completely different priorities...

  • And IMHO it is in the generalisation that racism/xenophobia is displayed. If you can show evidence and observation that each and every ethnic/social group you are criticising acts in the same manner, AND THAT WE DO NOT, only THEN are you not being racist!
