The BPA organises a World BPA Conference and wishes to set it in a venue in a certain city currently housing a well publicised and highly controversial exhibition about it's involvement in the Slave Trade.

The BPA approaches the Police Federation and asks for money to pay for the Event or pay a large percentage of the cost of the event.

Police Federation decline, not perhaps surprisingly.

So the CC steps in and pledges the Force will pick up the tab for the cost/large percentage of the cost instead.

Now this is all hypothetical of course.

Questions:-

Is the Police Federation right to refuse the request to contribute?
Is this an acceptable use of public money/police funding?
Would this happen if it were not the BPA?

Hypothetically speaking of course..scratchchin

...what has The British Psychodrama Association got to do with the Police Federation.winklaugh

Seriously though, why do they feel the need to jump on the current slave trade bandwagon? There are enough throwing good money at that cause lately without the Police having a dabble too...How can the police, (be they black, white sky blue pink with yellow dots) expect to portray themself as non-biased towards colour of skin when they are seen to support such campaigns?
OK we know that Wilberforce didn't stop the slave trade altogether but an association for 'black' police officers? Why is that?

Why do we need an association that makes a distinction between colour of skin in a service that actively encourages various hues of ethnic minority citizens into joining the service?
Is there an IPA (Islamic Police association)or a WPA (White Police Association)or how about a YPA...for those of Chinese/Korean/Japanese extraction?

as to answering your questions...
YES
NO
and
It should do.

Now add to that the fact that the West Country Force in question was criticised for binning applications from white candidates (Positive Discrimination in favour of its ethnic minority candidates) in one of its recent recruitment campaigns, and things get a bit more interesting don't they?
