Hi all, I am new here, i am currently driving a porsche 911 4s 997 cab, wow wat a car, excellent drive. However i have had a porsche for abt 5years now and some how got bored of them, so i have taken a look to the dark side and went out for a test drive of a lambo spydar, 2006, wow nice car, lovely sound etc.

I think I will go for one, but which one? 2 for sale, in the UAE where i live,

first one is: 2006, yellow, warranty remaining 10months, 7500miles, sissor doors,auto/tip, good condition, one owner, owner has a letter from the main lambo dealer that the warranty is not effected on the car due to the doors, which i checked and they ok with. price - 100GBP

second car: spydar 2006, yellow, warranty remaining 18months, normal doors, auto/tip, one owner, good condition, 800miles, 103,000GBP.

second car not driven much, said came late from dealer brought another and wants get rid of it, but has no sissor doors.

finally when i went for a test drive with first car, and was stuck in traffic, car kept coming out of automatic and into no mans land, i had to press up the 2 leavers for the tip, and then press the Auto button to move again, is this normal? Also once when i was in neutral and abt 2 drive off again the car just went off, and had to restart the car again, the owner said that was just one off neva happend to him, i must have started off wrong or something.umm. any ideas?

Please can someone give me some idea of should i go for any of these cars, or not? price ok? sissor doors good?

thanks in advance

"Sissor" doors sounds like an after-market job which in my opinion would effect the price come selling time and i am suprised that Lamborghini would honour the warranty though this may be the done thing in some places. The other car seems like a great price for a spider to be honest.

As for the car jumping out of gear? Sounds a bit dodgy to me or its down to lack of experience in driving a double clutch paddle shift system. When driving an E-Gear slowly in manual mode, the car will down shift eg. from 2nd to 1st without you manually shifting down,(It wont do this shifting up though) when you stop at lights or a junction or before the Reverse button is pressed - it is advised to put the car into neutral using both paddles (this can be a pain in stop/start traffic). It does seem a bit confusing to start with but once you get used to it, it comes naturally and only adds to the drama.

In Auto-mode, the car is not so smooth in my opinion, kangaroos allot at low speed and feels very jerky, engine sounds like its not too happy,i guess its not the kind of car that feels comfortable in DRIVE mode like a Mercedes/BMW -Note that i only have experience with the early Gallardo's and the latter models may drive allot better in both modes.

Overall a fantastic car in my opinion that can be used on track, weekend blast on the back roads or as an everyday car to and from work if you dont mind 14mpg.

I don't think 14 mpg is an issue in the UAE. Petrol is almost free !!

indeed the petrol is not an issue, my porsche currently for a full tank is abt 17GBP, I actually go and fill my tank up when it is half full, as that way its 8pounds,LOL, and best thing is that you dont need to leave your car to fill up, its done for you. If your kind enough they even get ur cigs or can of coke for you too.

But i think i may go for the second option car, sounds safer?. I did speak to the dealer and said it will cost abt 15k pounds to get the sissor doors, and the company who did the sissor doors for the first car, are the company lambo use themselves for kits etc.

is sissors a real no no for a G?

Yes - If Lamborghini wanted the Gallardo to have scissor doors then i am sure they would have done it themselfes. By all means if you like them then why not, i just have an issue with after-market add-ons and so would the majority of potential buyers come selling-on time.

point taken, and make sense. The show room for the second car hard work at the moment, i am part exchaning, we agreed the price all in with my car 103k, however he moaning abt me taking for a test drive unless i put deposit of 100 pounds not refundable, as he is moaning that he cant let everyone test drive it, or mileage be high?lol and money shows commitment to buy or major interest. Regardless of the fact we chatted about 5times abt the car and agreed a price.

I think i take the chasse number and run it with the lambo main dealer to check y so low mileage, and if all good.

wow all this headache with a lambo and i havent brought it yet, lol. No wonder my porsche dealer said to me when i said see ya! he said, yeah in 6months.
