Le Mans - Ferry Advice

Heads spinning abit on this one!
I need to book 7 cars and 14 passengers (two passengers per car) onto a ferry departing on Monday 9th June 2008 (in the morning) and returning on Sunday 15th June 2008 (in the afternoon/evening).
Preffered route is Portsmouth/Caen but I'm finding them quite dear... don't really want to have to go Dover/Calais as the drive in the Caterham would render me useless for the whole week of Le Mans..
Anyone know what I should expect to pay per car (with 2 passengers) from Portsmouth/Caen return? And also, who's done this before and who did you book with as I always prefer to go with reccomendations!!

I'm doing that route tomorrow night to headover for the Samoa game in Nantes. We've paid £264 which includes an overnight cabin. Travelling with Brittany ferries I think you can only book about 4 or 5 months in advance.
Depending on how this goes I might go the same route for LM as the drive to Calais has become a ball ache the last few years.

Newhaven is not that much further along the coast about an hour further on from Portsmouth, and there you will find Transmanche Ferries, running Newhaven to Dieppe.
We used them last year for the classic at the beginning of July and we paid £40 for a 5 day return, car and 2 people !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you ring them speak to ORLANE, she is the one that sorted things for us last year and as a bonus she sounds as fit as wotsit with her french accent.

You would be better either staying till monday or getting a late ferry Sunday night or you will miss the end of the race which is brill and the atmosphere great. Yea, stay Sunday evening and leave in the early hours if you can.
It's so much better sitting around the BBQ drinking beer than being the people queueing to gett off the camp site Sunday afternoon. This year it took the people camped next to us 1.5 to 2 hours to get from their camping spot to the roadway (let alone up the roadway to the exit from the camp site!).

This is what I would do.
1. Drive to Canterbury the day/evening before you leave for Le Mans
2. Stay in a B&B or hotel for one night (£50)
3. Get the ferry - Speedferries Dover to Boulogne- its £60 RETURN !
4. Do the same on the way back or just grit your teeth and drive.
I have just booked 5 ferry tickets at £60 eack and £110 for a large van. You cant get cheaper than that.
