Okay, not sure if this is the right place to post it but hey, here we go...

I had a lovely weekend trip to London together with my brother last weekend. It was a lovely trip with nice weather and I got to see a lot of stuff, having never been to England before. Of course being a car nut I found it very difficult to walk in London, as I kept looking over my shoulder all the time whenever a Porsche, Ferrari, Jaguar, Lotus or Aston Martin drove by... And that was the point, but i was expection go see quite a few TVRs, and I saw, like none... Apart from a short glimpse of the rear end of a blue T350c. I actually checked and was delighted to see that London TVR was located just near the Hotel that we stayed at, but all I found where London TVR was upposed to be (On Park Lane) was London Group who sold Lotus, Pagani and Mosler. Which is nice, but no TVRs... Does anybody have an idea...?

I was left a bit gutted by this, as I had never seen a TVR before, and was really looking forward to seeing the awesome outragiousness of a Sagaris in real life...

They only made 125 so a very rare beast. Much more so than common Ferraris etc.. Next time you're over post in advance and I'm sure someone will take you for a ride.

Certainly a day to remember!

The better half and I spent a week in London a couple of months ago, and we only saw 1 Tiv (grey Tuscan 2 near Selfridges) all week. Very disappointing.

I have been living in london for about a year now and in that time i have only seen five TVRs, a Tuscan, T350c, and two Chimps. Compare that to the 7 porkers I saw on the walk to work this morning. Makes you realise quite what a rare bit of kit they are.thumbup

I don't think I could live with a TVR in London to be fair. They're more at home on the sweeping A & B roads outside of towns and cities. Having said that, when I take mine into Bath or Bristol there are some nice, solid, tall buildings to 'sound off' against.

I agree. I'm fortunate enough to live on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales where we have a lot of great, empty drivers roads. But just occasionally I drive through Leeds, through all the tunnels and past all the tall buildings and its a different sort of buzz. biggrin

Yes, I saw quite a few supercars in London, but having read some in these forums I thought it would be more TVRs, especially baring in mind how many of them that are for sale. But I don't know perhaps there aren't that many TVR owners in London...

But, I wasn't actually thinking about making a post and asking about perhaps getting a little ride in one if anyone of the TVR owners on this e-community actually were nearby. I stayed on the SAS Portman Hotel by the way.

My S3 was originally from London, registered from new there and kept for some time down there I do believe (without digging through its extensive file), that was back in 92 though.

There are loads of us who live in London & own TVR's, but I cant think of anything worse than taking my car into town!

Congestion, road works, speed bumps, scameras - its just not worth it so I take 'the barge'.

I usually head south into Kent for a blast, but I envy the guys who live further north who can enjoy the quiter conditions & really get the most from their carsbiggrin

If you want to see lots of TVRs we have a meet on Monday night between Orpington & Sevenoaks - drop me a line if you want some more details.

All the best

Personally I find it tragic the way people in this country can't get enough of german cars while our own domestic manufacturers go to the wall. It's one thing to be a sheep and unimaginative but to go and be smug about it (is there any other way to drive a porsche or bmw?) and scoff at TVR an their owners is really appauling.

In France and Italy and no doubt Germany they're proud to drive cars built in their country. Over here they think you're an idiot.

I did notice that the London traffic was appaling, despite the bus lanes the busses didn't get trough, so they could just as well have removed them. If London had been a more car friendly city we would have used the offer, from my brother's work of getting a Mini for the weekend to get around in.

It's a shame really that there are so few TVRs around, especially when you see how many Porsches there are. I mean, some of these must be on their third or fourth Boxster or 911 and might bee looking for something different. I have made my desicion though, I'm not going to buy a main stream sportscar (ie; Nissan, BMW, Porsche, Corvette, Aston Martin*) if I'm ever to get one. It will either be a Marcos or a TVR, preferably a TVR as that looks far more exciting, and I don't care if it will be expensive to get it trough the Norwegian car tax and insurance hell... That's why I'm studying law...

  • Seriously, V8 Vantages were almost as common as 997s in central London...
Anyway thanks for the response...

TVRs are now scarce in big British cities like London because they are too cheap compared to the local population's disposable income - potential owners with 80K - 100k to shell out on their sportscars go for German or Italian or top end British cars - they won't spend 20K - 40K on a late model TVR no matter how good it is - what would their neighbours and mates think.

What a load of b****cks. There are many reason why people dont buy TVR,s the fact that there is no factory support is one of them. Not the reason you have given.

Calm down. hehe

Oscar T (the T stands for T*at) is really Jigs, a serial troll who has been banned from here at least 4 times but keeps coming back under different names so he can annoy new people. The mods will ban him again soon no doubt but in the meantime it's best to ignore him as all he's doing is trying to get a rise out of someone.

(They say he's a spotty nerd in his 30's that works in the Belfast branch of Burger King and goes home by pushbike each night to his little room at his mums house and dreams of TVR's...)
