Help! I've got the original pioneer tape deck in my new chimaera. problem is, I don't want a tape deck and i've just spent most of today trying to get it out. I have some of the stereo locking key jobby's, and they seem like they are fitting down the side just fine. However, the stereo won't budge an inch. I'm guessing that the security sleeve thing that envelopes the stereo is stuck. Searches in the forums reveal nothing except that it's an 'easy' job. Any suggestions on how to get it out without the use of a hammer and chisel?!?

The stereo keys should allow you to feel and hear a definate click when they disengage. Sometimes they do need a bit of a pull (woof).

Whereabouts in Devon are you? There's a few of us around Plymouth now!

Hi Cap. I'm in Derriford. I was planning on meeting up with the club for the first time in the next few weeks, do you go along? I wouldn't mind meeting up with some fellow chimaera owners over a beer or two.

The TVRCC meet takes place at the Lyneham Inn at the top of Plympton on the 2nd Monday of each month at 7:30. We have about 5 regular Chim owners, a couple of Griffs, S3, and the occasional T350. They're a good bunch. There are also monthly events in between the evening meet, such as karting or runs up to other areas. Last Sunday saw a run up to Holsworthy to meet some of the guys from north Devon. I couldn't go unfortunately, but I'm told it was a good crack which involved a blast along some pretty decent roads after lunch.

If you want to pm me, I'd be happy to help with your stereo. I'm not far from you.

How did you get on with your Stereo removal MrE ? Had a quick 5 min play trying to get my original Pioneer out today. No luck yet with mine either.

Hi What are you putting in to replace the Pioneer. I am taking mine out because I'm fed up with the face coming off when I go into fith gear! (Big thumb, small button problem). I might stick with Pioneer as I have a CD changer but if I go for an ipod ready device that becomes a little redundant.

What have you guys done?

Cheers
