I can get a 92 4.3 precat, 1500 miles, not garaged for £182 (classic car) but the premium rises to £446 with a 97/98 500 with club membership (both with Chaucer). I'm told the 500 does not meet classic status (98)but the real problem is with not being garaged and then 97/98 cars are treated as modern classics (a lot more expensive). I cannot garage every night. Any alternatives I can try?

Hagerty insist upon a garage.
That said, they came in so far in front that I put up a 10'X13' shed with concrete base on the saving.
That let me clear the garage contents.
Hagerty allowed me to keep it on the drive while the shed got built.
If there's any possibility of building a garage then do so.
You protect the Griff, get cheaper insurance and increase your property value.
It pays for itself as long as you own land to build it on.

Hagerty will insure a Griff. not garaged. I've been quoted for a 98 £402 which is £44 less than Chaucer. Interestingly Hagerty have a sliding scale dependent on year and a 95 one falls to £347. I'm more interested in condition so a Griff. 95/98 is what I am after.

After a lot of shopping around, A Plan came out tops, also moved the daily runaround over to them this year and had another £50 chopped of the premium, a good saving when insuring both cars with them.thumbup

Hagerty came up cheapest for me. Garaged seems to be the main issue. But I managed to get my 94 Griff and Mrs F&Cs 99 M3 EVO convertible on the same insurance for £500 the pair fully comp, as long as they are garaged with 5000 miles P/A.
