Hose Needed

I am trying to source a replacement hose, it is the large hose (about 2" thick) that goes from the swirl pot to the thermostat, is this a standard size or more than likely a one-off?

Does anyone know where I can get one, and will I need to drain the system before fitting it?

Is that the top hose that just clears the fanbelt? if so I got a replacement hose from Halfrauds which has a wire insert to allow bending without distorting the hose, they had a variety of lengths and sizes, hope this helps

I can't find my notes but from memory it is a QH RH1788 hose which is the Escort/Orion Mk3 top rad hose.

Also. when i took the old one off a lttle water came out. Then just topped up and bled the system using the `tap` at the top of the rad. I take it yours has cracked ? Took me 20 minutes to fit (+ some swearing) I had to shorten mine by 1/2 inch. But otherwise it was easy.

I've got a full hose kit for my S3 from ACT, Tim is dead nice and really helpful, also got a really good deal as got a water pump at the same time.

Just ignore the fact that they are STILL sat on my sofa in their box and not on the car

Thanks everyone, I have refitted the existing one today, as the clamp didn't seem to be tight enough. I am going to see how it goes, if it carries on leaking I will give ACT a call

Is it just me or does £30 sound a lot of money for a hose?!

The QH one was £8 from a motor factor. I'm still hunting for a scrap of paper that will confirm the part number though...

For a standard rubber hose, yes. But the ACT hoses are not rubber. They are Silicone, which are miles better than the rubber ones. I have them on my Griff and I used to have a full set on my S3. I would always replace any hoses with Silicone, well worth the money.

I got a standard rubber hose from David Geralds a couple of years ago for £17 including postage.
