When channel hoping I had the misfortune to come across "Pimp My Ride UK" just at a point when the filming was coming in from outside the garage. And there it was - a gold coloured pimped up Cerb
To make sure I wasn't seeing things, I had to rewind it !! (Sky+
).
Anybody come across this Cerb in the flesh?

Thats the Charisma cerbera, Charisma being the company who do the tarting up of the cars on the show, unsuprisingly it has been a max power cover car. Its an bloody awful bodykit on it however In their defence the quality and fit of their re trims seems to be rather good if the application seems to be somewhat lacking in taste.

Theyre not exactly identical! The charisma car has no wide arches, its skirts etc look stuck on and the front bumper thing looks like someone took a dremmel to it. The speed 12 in race car guise, whilst ruined aesthetically at least has the fact that the slats and holes are race bred as a defence.

I've seen it at the BIRMINGHAM NEC in 2003.
I'm not sure what all the fuss is about and negativity towards this car.
For all intents and purposes it looks exactly like the speed 12 or the cerbera race cars that were in the GT series.

Got to admit there are aspects of that Cerb which are not that bad. I'm not sure what all the fuss is about and negativity towards this car.

I'm not sure that this car would be slated so much if it didn't have that "pimp my ride" label/attachment to it.
as an aside, I don't think that WESTWOOD calling cars "SICK" and calling the owners "YO DOG" does much for cars of this ilk.

But the golden cerbs kit isnt a coherent part of the design its a bunch of plastic stuck onto the cerbs main body, they havent even bothered to blend it in! Most of the skirts and cut outs bear no relation to the original shape of the car. Ive never liked any of charismas bodykits, theyre crap at making. Take their 911 or r5 for examples. They started out as a retrimming company and thats where theyre talent lies.

That's a fair point. However, then the question begs - is it the overall car you don't like, or the wokmanship and finishing that is the problem. If it was all blended and contoured correctly/properly, would it then be acceptable?

I dont like the finish or workmanship but in the case of the cerbera I think it looks fantastic as standard and really doesnt need anything stuck to it in the first place. The speed 12 looked great as it was a race car but they rarely translate well when turned into a road car directly. The cerb sp12 road car was rather nice in a muscular evolution of the standard cerb. The way it currently looks is a bit of a dogs dinner and if I owned it (maybe one day) assuming it wasnt necessary due to overheating Id have the majority of the holes filled in, especially the cutaways behind the rear wheels, they look awful.
