An associate of mine has a 1989 RR 3.5 which is suffering from a bit of a hot start problem

After a run out, if you try and start it after standing for a short time it tends to splutter and surge

any ideas?

As an 89 model should be an Efi engine unless its a special build or been converted..........

I think it has more to do with how powerful the fuel pump is and where it is located, than whether it's got a carb or injection.

Im assuming that it would be injection?

The previous owner said something about converting to LPG, but seeing as there is no tank or anything that would point to an LPG conversion, I dont think it can really account for anything

So whats the cure?

More powerfull fuel pump?

Sorry didn't mean converted to LPG I meant converted from EFi to carbs. Only fuel pump problems I've had on Rangies have been where they've stopped working entirely wink Other than suggestions above I've had similar symptoms with coil breaking down when hot and air-flow meter playing up.

Not dissimilar symptoms to my EFI 3.5 when the ignition amp dies. On my third now. Fortunately only about £26 each.
