Great race this morning
Wet to dry - bike changes (wouldn't it be cool if they could swap cars in F1 - didn't they used to do that in the old days ? )
Stoner seals the championship for Ducati - have to say I'm quite happy about it - I'm a big Rossi fan but Yammy were well beaten this year

Well done to Stoner... the right man on the right bike on the right tires.
I'm very mixed about a 1 tire chamopionship. If i have to jump off the fence I'll say that it's a good thing, cos it places the racing in the hands of the rider and the quality of his bike.
It's heart breaking to see top riders pull out of races because tires have been bad or gone off.

if your bike fails and the nice Australians doesn't, you get no points and he does get points, hey presto a points gap
then
if it happens again
hey presto a bigger points gap
etc
also if you get to the front or there abouts for a good part of the race, only for your tyres to go off, as they are clearly inferior to the nice australian and others on brigestone tyres, guess what?
you are going to be at a season long disadvantage.
no other Michelin shod bike was anywhere near rossi's pace and performance this season (or for any season in his era)
what exactly do you mean by sausage boy? how is the derogatory tone you take in any way representative of rossi. he is the greatest bike racer there has ever been, and was gracious to Hayden last year and to stoner this year, in defeat.
stoner has had a virtualy problem free season rossi's was beset with tyre and bike problems, and was still the only other rider to make a race of it, including the heavily funded honda's
rossi is a true champ, he whent from honda who won everything, to yamaha who won nish even with the great max biaggi on board and turned them in to champions overnight!
go on then, if he is sausage boy who do you rate higher!

I like the way we have a multi-tyre manufacturer championship for years and nobody complains.. Now Rossi loses two in a row and Michelin produces a slightly inferior tyre (although it has won several races this year) people call for a single-tyre championship? Irrational madness.

de Puniet did very well too. Early in the race he was down the order and off the track briefly. But pitted at the right time and made the most of it.Ride of the day by miles.

bit worrying coz he's 28 now!!
to be fair these results were the result of changing weather, and whilst I wont knock any one for doing well, in a normal race it is umlikely that this would have happened.
ref the tyre thing though I dont fancy a 1 make champs. rossi fan though I am. I know that in cars and karts tyres are mucho important, and I guess its the same with bikes.
I think its a team call as to who you team up with tyre wise, and if your hunch is right and that years tyre is the one to have then you are in for a big season, however let us not forget hom many races Rossi passed Stoner on the brakes only for Stoner to blitz and I do mean BLITZ him on the straits, it was often like Rossi was stood still, such was the hp advantage of the Duke! some of that will have been down to better exit speed, coz the tyre worked better, but a good amount would be just down to plain old Grunt.
fair play to Stoner good bike and good tyres is all well and good but you still have to ride it and he did it well, a worthy champion

makes me wonder if Hopper knows something that we dont, i was very surprised when he announced he was leaving suzuki for kawazaki in 08 as i htought the suzuki was a better bike in the first half of the championship but west and RdP have really come on in the second half of the year. He is either on serious $$$$$ or that kawasaki will be a bike to watch in 08I thought Stoner deserved the championship this year, sure michelin havent been up to scratch this year and the yaamah was down on power until the end of the summer but rossi had enjoyed numerous trouble free years before this year so its really swings and roundabouts. the FIM cocked up by changing too much in one year though, switching to 800s was enough but the tyres too?!?! madness.
next year shouod be fun, hopefully de Angelis will come up from 250s and could cause a few surprises and toselan will want to get some good results (but i cant see it happening in the first half of the season to be honest)

agreed, a corking ride, no wonder ducati have him signed on a works contract and have placed him on a 3rd works bike but in the dantin team!!Ride of the day by miles.

i cant see it happening though, nicky will win some races along with toseland next season

Thinking about it Melandri lives here too, so he's British also. And Rossi lives in London, so he's also one of ours.

Freddie Spencer - did the double - 250 and 500 in a single year - '85. Unheard of in the modern era.
And that's before we get on to Mick Doohan and numerous others who have a far better claim to the best ever.
As for gracious, maybe, but he has a planet-sized ego. His quote about Stoner after Sunday was along the lines of : if someone else has to win, I'm glad it was a fan of mine!!!!
