Ive been thinking about this and discussing it with friends to great length over the past few months and its time I comprised a list to help me focus laugh

Id love to see the views of the PH massive too

The idea is that most men have a list of cars that they simply must own, even if its for 6-12 months then sell them on, just for the experience of owning said cars

Mine are

BMW 635CSi
Ferrari 308/328/348/400i
A lovely Bentley yes
A nice Jaguar/Daimler especially a XJC
Porsche 928 or early 911
Something American, ideally a 1969 Camaro Z28
Lotus Esprit/Excel

The list really can go on and on biggrin

I've been thinking about my list for years, but never written it down before. So these are in no particular order...

  1. Mitsubishi Evo V or VI
  2. Mitsubishi Evo VIII - tick
  3. Mitsubishi Evo X
  4. Audi RS4
  5. Nissan Skyline R34
  6. Lotus Exige
  7. Porsche 911 Turbo
  8. BMW M3
  9. BMW M5
Only one ticked off so far, but I'm still pretty happy with that!

Although there are lots of cars I like, and would thoroughly enjoy owning, there is only one car I have to have in my life. That is a Land Rover Defender. Why? I just want to experience it. I'm not bothered about having one for a long time. I'm not even bothered about liking it. I just want to see what one is like to own, even for a month or two.

I hope that one day I'll stick with a car that I want long enough to buy it.

Owning a Caterham is a huge itch I want to scratch. Will probably get the CSR 200.

Need to build a garage alongside the house to keep her in first.

Realistically:

V8-engined Capri
Series 2/3 Land Rover
Citroen CX (or maybe a C6 if they depreciate as much as big Citroens have in the past)
Mk2 Focus ST
Something old, obscure and outwardly crap. Think Skoda Estelle with an old 911 engine and massively improved suspension... biggrin
Boring diesel-powered everyday bus (Mondeo or A4 or something)

Lottery win, all of the above plus Ferrari F40 and Lancia 037, and a Jag in place of the everyday bus.

I use my Corrado VR6 for weekends and trackdays and don't plan to ever sell it. In a couple of years I'm planning to supplement it though. Front runners are:

Elise
TVR Chimaera, or perhaps a Griff
VX220T

The outside bets include:

S2000
Porsche 968CS
Bike-engine Westfield

I've always had a hankering for 80's/90's homologation specials, and would love to have:

Integrale
Ur Quattro
E30 M3

Later, if career goes to plan, possibly one of:

E46 M3
VX Monaro/Holden GTS (probably depreciated to death by this point...)
Exige
Noble M12 GTO
Tamora/T350C

Don't have any great hankering to bankrupt myself with Ferraris etc.

So for the few people who responded in 2007 did any of the cars on your list find their way into your garage.

For me i passed up the opportuntiy to buy a S1 Exige is 2009 (idiot I know), but got a 111R in 2010 and when i chopped it in i nearly got a Evo X before seeing sense and got a Z4M.

Not a specific car thing for me, rather a type or genre of car.

Have done the yank thing through the 70's, 80's, and early 00's.

Am currently doing the 2 seater open top roadster in the form of a Westfield.

I do however need to do the following two car genres in the next 10 years or so.

All of them, no cars I don't want to own. I just need to take over the world first.
