How do they make the larger diameter throttle bodies ?? (72mm I believe as comapered to 65mm standard ??)

Is it a case of just 'opening' the existing one and fitting a larger butterfly valve ?? I wouldn't have thought that there would be enough thickness on a standard to take that much off but there again I haven't looked at one yet.

How much does it cost to do this or is there somebody who will do an exchange ??

ACT do it, they machine the inside of the throttle body out and fit a large throttle disc. I'm sure other people do it too, but ACT are probably the best known.

ACT did mine a few years ago and I had the plenum smooth polished before refitting - great job.

Also did trumpet base, smooth bore induction hoses, bored out AFM and K&N filter - complete package made a big difference in responsiveness. I chose to keep the underbonnet looking original so didn't consider carbon fibre plenumor different AFM.

I'd be wary of one bought of ebay - unles you buy a standard one and then have it modified by a reliable firm such as ACT.

V8 Developments take a std in part exchange.Castle Race engines will also do the same. There are only so many people out there who actually do the work themselves,so ring around a few places for prices.

My new one cost less than that!Just buy one from one of the aforementioned specialists. Then you can be sure your buying a quality part that has no wear problems. You can still offset the cost by selling seperately,or part exchanging your old plenumsmile
