Hello all,

I've had my chimaera looked at by a couple of TVR V8 Specialists and I've been told that it's likely my camshaft, lifters and rockers need to be replaced.... no I'm no mechanic - so when presented with the question - do you want Alloy or Steel rockers I just look confused and shrug. Anyone here able to clarify for me the benefits of one over the other?

We've defiantly ruled out exhaust manifold gaskets as the cause of the tapping and looking at the paperwork this is the first time anything this major has been needed.

Cheers

Steel are the more reliable, the alloy ones are lighter but it is no benefit to a low revving unit like the RV8.

Look in the bible at pages 51-53 for photos and discussion and how the ally ones can die. Go for steel. Cost about the same but are more resilient.
