172mph in a brand new 997 Turbo (a car thats designed to top out over 200mph) on an empty stretch of road.
how fast was that copper doing a while back in his shed of a car?
did he get convicted for that?
double standards anyone?

i told people they where dilluded when they told me about the police picking out porsches/ferrari/etc untill I owned one.
discrimination of the highest order.
and the odd thing is, a 911 is not only one of the safest cars to drive at 175mph all day long, its also designed to do just that!

If he had been doing that speed in the early hours of the morning on a deserted road, one might have some sympathy for him, despite the fact that he knew full-well that he was exceeding the speed limit by over 100 mph. Maybe a big fine and a longish ban would then have been appropriate. However, that speed on the A420 during daylight hours is a criminal act and should be punished accordingly. There is simply no excuse for it. It wasn't his car, so he was unfamiliar with it, he had received no special training for driving at such a speed and it was a real danger to others using the road or likely to be using it. The man is clearly a criminal and an idiot.

....the reality is that A roads are designed and spec'd for 30 - 70mph.and brake/handle/accelerate accordingly.
im not saying the guy is in the right for doing these speeds, more interested to see what he gets for not driving a car at its limit, compared to the police officer who was ringing the neck out of his smoker (which I think was only 10% slower than this guy) and got off scott free.

Nearly as fast as it becomes obvious you have no idea of the case involving the officer, the ruling and why it was so. Also, the car wasn't a 997, but hardly a shed. 172mph in a brand new 997 Turbo (a car thats designed to top out over 200mph) on an empty stretch of road.

i'd be interesting in a comparison between that (which probably had a boot full of equipment - thus increasing the braking distance significantly) and the 997 Turbo, accepted as one of the fastest braking cars on sale today?
Gary does make an interesting point though - surely doing 100mph on the M1 is safer in a car designed to tolerences of 200mph than that of one designed for a maximum of 110mph?

Ducati Gary, it appears that you have had some bad experiences in your life with the Police, but I am asking you not to tar us all with the same brush. I do not tar all Ducati owners as middle-aged men having a mid life crisis - who cannot ride are a menace on bikes to big for them and wear matching leathers... " Butterflies ".The Tuscan Rat said:
However I have had occasion to stop the above vehicles now and again and explain the badge on the front reads porsche/ferrari/etc and not Penis extension so please drive appropriately.
hmm... thats going to earn you lots of points.so you stop people as you feel they think their car is an extension of their penis? what gives you this impression? did you spot them trying to zip their flies and noticed a large shiny badge peeking out ?
