Forza 2

Being unemployed at the moment, I read all of the Forza posts here and thought I'd give up searching out a job and buy Forza instead.

Absolutely brilliant in my opinion so far, but I thought I'd ask if there are any useful hints and tips you experts can give me?

One thing I've noted, the braking seems either ferocious or non-existant - how do I get around this? Or is it a poor spec on the car (new-shape Golf GTi)

Are you using abs?, I think most use it as the cars tend to lock up a bit too easily. Also there's a big difference in braking performance from car to car because of weight, tyres, suspension, aero and the brake upgrades, obviously you have to brake alot sooner in a Camaro than in an Porsche GT3, practice makes perfect

Yeah I think it is on. Anything more than a vaguely sharp corner and either I'm braking way too early and then speed in to the corner, or I overshoot in to a wall!!!!

I'm thinking it's probably the car more than anything. It just doesn't seem 'progressive'

If you pull the trigger fully the abs cuts in, but if your a little more subtle you can brake without activating the abs and shorten the braking distance, I usually activate the abs for consistancy, not forgeting to release the brakes before you turn in other wise you understeer straight on.

Hmmmm, maybe my (lack of) technique then. Seem to be getting better, but then I keep changing bits on the car!!

Isn't the idea of ABS that it will retain some steering control?

Up to a point, its still locking and releasing the brake (hense the longer braking distance and why race cars don't us it), so you'll still go wide on to the dirty outside of the track.

Does Forza model marbles off the clean line then?? That's impressive!!

No marbles, just less "virtual" grip off line, plus if you fall off it takes a while to clean your tyres up

I find it hard to keep up with ferarris etc if i modify a 'normal' car (eg; my 1.5vti civic with 350bhp) up to class A, mainly due to braking.

any idea what settings i can change to improve turn in etc

You could try softening the front springs/roll bar. I tend not to over tune FWD cars, as they turn into understeering monsters.

The descriptions in the settings next to each option tell you what it will do, just do things gradually and one at a time.
