Just before Hatfield north on the southbound carriage way a BMW and Mazda connected. The BMW ended up over barrier on the hard shoulder and the Mazda ended up on it's roof. Interestingly there was another BMW pointing the wrong direction on the hard shoulder on the north bound side, must have had a spin watching it happen.

The Mazda was in a pretty bad state, the roof hadn't held the weight of the car. People had stopped and were trying to get the mazda driver out of the car. I decided not to stop as I'd have been about the 8th car to stop and would have just added to the confusion.

I was just wondering if anyone had heard anything about the condition of the Mazda driver?

And while I'm on the subject - a plea. Go and check your tyres, if you're near the limit get them changed. If you don't, slow down when there's standing water! The rears on my 350z are near the blocks and were awfully floaty this morning, I'll have a new set on soon.

I'd imagine the usual reasons, not paying attention or following too close.

I've seen the aftermath of far too many front-rear end impacts on motorways to count. Always give them a toot and a clap as I go past, you know, for wasting a portion of my life. Cheers.

are you serious, you clap when you see someone that's had an accident?

Is it my imagination, or are the queues heading north on the A1 near The Clock Motel, worse since they changed the lane markings?

You know, it used to be the two inside lanes into one, now it's the two outside lanes. I'm sure it never used to be that bad during the rush hour confused

It seems the Highways Agency seem to get it so wrong lately! Look at the co*k up they have made at the Letchworth Gate roundabout mad

Me and my dad both drive back from hatfield south and both agree the queues have got worse since they swapped the line markings the other way.

It's bloody dangerous as well when there's no traffic, rather than it being a sweeping bend it's now got a kink towards the end and someone will come acropper there one day

The local paper states the woman driver of the mazda was taken to the QEII with minor injuries and the driver of the BMW was treated at the scene.
